The Old Folks Home

Perchie, my sister lives in NM and she gets plants from them. Her yard is basically gravel. I told her she ought to have a kennel- she was not amused. But that's what I used when I had a kennel and it was easy to clean up , and great drainage - of course I'm in a wet state and she is not. I prefer greener surroundings. Don't water my grass and usually we have a month or two draught every summer.

I dont live in green surroundings... we get 10-15 inches of precipitation in San Diego per year... total.

Last year at home I got 3 inches of precipitation total. Grass dont belong here. The reason I posted those couple of links was to show that you can have a pretty yard without wasting thousands of gallons of water per year.

For what its worth I prefer just plain old Decomposed granite as the main surface... then interspersed with Xeric plants and hardscape. Its beautiful...

As more and more people move to the cities and drink up the fresh water... we people over all should take some steps toward water conservation... Even ones that get a large annual rainfall.

Even though we get 7 feet of rain a year, we have to water plants and gardens. The soil is just sand. without 1/2 an inch of rain in the past 3 days, our gardens start to go limp. From Feb to June we only get 3-4" a month,

I am busy

packing 70 live birds in 8 orders

dealing with a week doeling

negotiating to sell a pig

all from 7300 miles away using cell phone text and crappy reception

Congratz kuya Oz,
Preparing chickens to be delivered in their new home. Kuya Oz Coco Poultry flocks invading the Philippines. :)

We have been praying for the rain, and now He answered our prayers.

Nice to meet you Mick. Any friend of Oz, is certain to raise suspicion here.

Just kidding, Oz is the best at everything, so have to tease him a lot. I have referred new folks from the Philippines to him often. I know he will get them off to a great start.
