Just means you haven't been caught...

I could arrange that...........

Persuant to Rule # 15 - Publicly Questioning Moderation, I cannot discuss any infractions. I can say proudly that I have never had a Rule # 2 - Inappropriate Post, Topic, Innuendo, etc. blemish brought down upon this thread.

I like to find the good in people

Do I have to get my mother in here to vouch for me??

Well, we decided to cull, after the mornings pain meds started wearing off, she wasn't really doing much. The grooming which I took as a positive sign of her being more active is apparently something that was noted in a study on anti inflammatory meds on chickens, ketoprofen causes it. So, the Fiskars was put to work. I'll hide this next part in the spoiler tag in case someone doesn't want a graphic description.

So far we've used the garden shears to decapitate chickens, but I decided to try the axe this time, and I've found a new favorite method. I tied a noose on a piece of string, and slipped it over her head. We laid her on a 2x4, Karin held on to her legs and extended her neck with the string, while I struck it with the axe. It took her head off in one clean blow, but next time I'm doing that, I'm tying another string around the legs, because even though I've read about it and seen it in movies, I hadn't experiences a headless chicken running around before. If I wouldn't have seen the head on the ground in front of me, I could have sworn it was a live, panicked chicken running around. The decapitating itself was a very clean process, the Fiskars performed beautifully. I did sharpen it first though, just in case.

So Virpi is no longer with us, and is no longer in pain.

proud of you felix

tough call

Not really, she wasn't getting any better. No point in prolonging the inevitable. I would have hoped that she would have gotten better, but three days inside without significant improvement was enough, keeping her alive any longer would just have been animal cruelty.

I'm sorry about blabbing on about details, but it seems my way of processing is to turn excessively analytical.
You do what ya gotta do, physically and emotionally.
