The Old Folks Home

gryeyes is on Facebook. But I don't do facebook. I tracked her down because the last we heard from her was when she was evacuating because of the fires in her area.

Ditto I've checked a couple times and nothing

I keep harassing her, too.

Hopefully soon.

...

I have been dealing with a cocci outbreak. Its none a number on my juveniles. I will have one paid order for next week's delivery that we cant fill. Hopefully the buyer will be Ok with it. I have a clause in my fineprint but I hate to disappoint. We have been selling 50-90 birds every week so the birds are finally paying expenses and repaying their start up costs - albeit slowly,

School is out in the Philippines for their summer. Enzo took is pre-pre-K exams and walked out of each 1 hr exam after 10-15 minutes. He scored the Academic excellence medal. (yes I know he is 3, but this is serious stuff lol). Toni was given the "most resiliant" award. She took her entrance exam to attend a fancy all girls private catholic school and was accepted. We have decided to keep her at the current school that has just been granted a license for elementary school and follows the Singaporean curriculum.

...

Yes, serious, and so important.

Slowly for sure but paying is a wonderful thing. When I just sold eggs for food, they just about paid everyone's feed bill. Mostly selling hatching eggs and adolescents now.

I just got a PM and picture yesterday of the first eggs from pullets I sold a guy.

....I think your kids are qualified as teachers here...
Ain't that the truth.

I was going to write something provocative about GMOs but changed my mind

Awww, go ahead. People on other threads don't have any problem arguing about it.

I have so many birds in the house right now. TSC was right next to Joann's but I swear I was good. I have no more brooders left. Between the biddy with the awful bumblefoot (who had to come back inside after nearly exsanguinating in the coop when I put her back out) and the juvies who can't go out to the hoop house because it's still buried in snow (had to separate them into two brooders today because they had outgrown the 4x4)... I have no room for anything else to come live inside. I can't remember when my leghorns are coming but I hope it's a while.

I did get a few things at Joann's - I'll be making a butterfly quilt for my sisters about to be born kid.

Just as soon as I get my easter table runner finished.
I feel you. I had too many chicks inside for too long last winter. I still have 4 in the cellar now cause the buildings aren't finished and I'll be incubating soon.

I'm with you on that. I just don't have the time. Haven't done twitter or any of those newer things either.

I did have time to plant some broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and collards last week. I went to Hummerts yesterday for 7-top turnip for forage and they didn't have any.
I have to order all my chicken forage seed tomorrow. We're supposed to get about 3 days of rain so that would have been perfect. And the moon is in the first phase.

I have to start building a bunch of fences. One flock is starting to venture off the property up near the house. I've had to chase them back on a couple of times - don't want the neighbors to find them in their front yard.

I usually start my seeds the first weekend in March. Here I am looking at 2.5 feet of snow worrying about whether I should start my celery or not. Think I'm going to wait one more week.

Looking at where we're at right now it's got to be at least another month before the snow's gone and the ground thaws.

I usually do to but it snuck up on me this year with the cold weather and other projects.
It has been 60s+ during the day and 30s/40s at night. perfect for cool weather crops. We're supposed to get one night at 31 next week but not a problem for what's already growing.
