Made our local newspaper opinion column today.

While yes he is saying it politically, he had some good points on what a govt. watchdog group had to say about California's exploding population and refusal to build any new resevoirs or dams and how 70% of their rainfall ends up in the ocean.
One commentor who always disagrees with his columns posted this

I know, the water table has been decimated. Years of rain and good snow fall. That just doesn't happen there.

yep water table down a hundred feet in the wells on the mountain I am living on. most wells are 500 feet deep and mine was drilled in 1984. Last time I had well work done he estimated I had about three hundred feet of water in the well...100 feet down from when it was drilled.

I was frying a chicken last night and my neighbor and her daughter showed up. Her kid is a 6 year old demon. I was hoping if I made them a plate of food they would shut up, eat, and go home. It did not work well. After they left Krista and I cleaned up as usual. Loaded dishwasher. Took out trash.
Well she called about an hour ago. She asked if we had seen her dentures. I said no. She said she had wrapped them in paper towels and put them beside her plate of food. I said we probably threw them in the trash. She asked if we would go dig in the trash to find them. I said no. She is more than welcome to dig away.

Lol, let her dig!
When we were in elementary school on a trip my cousin left his retainer pre braces thingy (do they even use them anymore?) on his tray at McDonalds and threw it away, didn't notice till we got back on the bus. The teachers had to dig threw the garbage till they found it before we could leave lol!

Now backyard flocks are beginning to be culled. Backyard flocks have been affected in 9 states and commercial flocks in 12.
1.7 million turkeys have been killed in Minnesota.
I heard a report yesterday that said they believed the H5N2 would replace less pathogenic strains and will be around for a long time.

California has a new strain too - H5N8.
Kathy, a Canada goose in Wyoming died from H5N2.

40 countries have now banned US poultry exports.
It's worse. They are beginning to cull the 5.2 MILLION laying hens on the commercial egg facility in Iowa and our governor has declared a state disaster emergency and activating the national guard. You know it's not good when your gov. calls out the National Guard!

If anyone is interested, I listened to a great show today on Agritalk on Rural Radio where he interviewed the chief veterinarian for the the USDA APHIS. All the latest on what's happening and how they are dealing with it. Go to,
www.agweb.com/agritalk and listen to the podcast for today.

Also, Jenny-O admitted in an interview last night that the hit they've taken will have a definite negative effect on their supply chain for the near future (no kidding

). Their stock took a big tank this morning. Other sources on Rural Radio said that the entire poultry supply is going to be effected driving prices higher possibly into next year.
