Going to try to get a whole bunch of things done today. Was supposed to get up early and de-mite the chickens (noticed the darned turkey toms had mites again yesterday, real bad - can't see them on the others but know they're there) but when I woke at 3 I did not feel like getting out of bed to go spray 60 birds.

Last time we had mites badly it was also the toms that manifested it. I wonder if that's because they spend all their day puffed up looking for love and they don't dust bathe?

Any one else have this experience?

My dad writes a fishing column in Virginia. I got into an argument with him yesterday over the terms "warm blooded" and "cold blooded." I'm hoping when he covers this story he will use the correct terms.

I think we have strayed far from the path that our forefathers laid out for us as a nation and currently no one is trying to correct our course.

As a senior citzen I fear for what the children of today will face when they are our age.

We do not need leaders who are determined to find a new path for America. We need leaders who are willing to look back, in order to find the right path for this nation to follow and then set us back on course.

I only hope it is not too late.

Anyone ever have a welsummer just quit laying? Started this winter laid fine, few dozen eggs. Now she hasn't laid in over two months. She seems happy, isn't moulting or broody, only a year old this month. Can't be stressed, they all get along great, nobody gets picked on, even the wellie roo is nice and not a hen missing any feathers. ???
How long do I wait before she looses her head?

I had one stop for a month after a bad dog attack, but I didn't get an egg out of any in that flock for a month.
It seems like she did stop from time to time for a couple weeks but mostly reliable.

When I thread hop I see Kathy now and then. I thought she wanted a break from being OLD FOLKS for awhile.

Maybe she feels too young to be here.

What a shame the country feel for all the lies spun by bush, Chaney, rumsfeld et al.

We have created a land hated by most of the world and live in fear because of it.

Even sadder is that most of the fear is unfounded.

Citizens should not own tanks and mortars period.

Don't get into that here--political conspiracy theory and internet hoo doo. It is a training exercise that the military does every year. I remember watching the military trucks heading up I-5 each year for the exercises.

Those regular exercises have been going on since at least WWII. They do the same thing in every country where we have status of forces agreements.
I have often wondered how people in Greece, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea, et. al. feel about having US military convoys travelling their freeways and country roads.
