The Old Folks Home

Thanks, chicka!

He's been feeling a lot better today - pretty much his usual self. The weather enforced a lot more rest on him today than he anticipated. It's been relatively cool and cloudy almost all day; we had one thunderstorm roll through this morning. He went out for a while, but got only a little bit done before getting pinned down by another thunderstorm. That one turned into a boundary of rising air that just kept regenerating; after sitting for an hour, he came home. A little rain he could and would have worked through, but these storms had a lot of lightning. He said, "I could just see the headline, "Sunstroke Victim Gets Struck by Lightning." When the mess finally cleared out late in the afternoon, he tried again; we don't get many daylight hours in the low 70's at this time of year. So he's feeling pretty good, he got some work done, which keeps him pretty much on schedule, and that feels good, too.

This could be Gospel....or pure wives tales....but people have told me that they had heat stroke...and once you have it....you are more susceptible to a recurrence......

Of course I am not beyond enjoying a bit of hasenpfeffer or fried rabbit.

PLEASE come to my house for the free bunny buffet. Catch and keep! Waiting for the coyotes to cycle back around and help clear some out. Took a blind one off to Wildlife Rescue and we have another one (besides the 12+ on the lawn) who is a Special Needs Bunny, a little thing with no idea to flee from things bigger than it. We've named it Fig because it stays pretty much near the fig tree...at least until a coyote finds it.

BE very careful Heat stroke is dangerous... Electrolytes are good.... meaning Gatoraid or some such equivalent..... NO physical activity .... till he recovers... and it wont take 24 hours either.

Shade the neck and head wear clothes that are loose and preferably made of cotton.... And if hes not feeling better get him to emergency... not kidding.

Helpful hint:
Cucumbers are higher in electrolytes than Gatoraid! If you have fresh ones handy, then juice them, add a shot of lime, a little honey and some water. Quenching, refreshing and healthy.

Yes yes and yes.... Cucumbers are also good diuretics and good for high blood pressure. That drink I had the very first time at an Aztec restaurant.... it was very milky white with a hint of green to it.... I asked for a taste and would have taken home a gallon.

And Yes its good with vodka or Tequila... but that's a whole other topic.... for the adult section.

Seriously it is beyond refreshing I would take it over Lemon-aid given the choice.
