Al, nice score! And nice that you've gotten rid of the creepy crawlies. We still haven't had any (knock on wood). I think spending all that time caulking all the gaps in my coop has really been worth it. We did treat with some pesticide for the first time ever this weekend, just as a precaution though. And we had some fecal tests done on the rabbits (Karin's old study buddy is doing some research), and the bunnies have a very mild concentration of Coccidiosis (Eimeria), but it seems they've built up resistance to it. Out of the 7 bunnies we butchered, one had slight changes in the liver (3-4 slightly whiter spots).

Chicka, looks like that's going to make a lovely broth. I'm gonna cook some bunny tonight, I'll try to get some pictures.
Thanks Felix but that is Scg's pan for broth.

Although I may have contributed a turkey or chicken to the pot.

Oops. Sorry about that. But anyway, looks like it will be tasty.

I'd post a picture of the bunny pot but my OneDrive is giving me attitude again.
I have only eaten fried rabbit fixed like fried chicken and it was delish! Maybe one day I can get my DH to make use some rabbit stew.
He is a wonderful cook.

My sewing machine's been acting up. There is one certified Singer repair shop in the state and it's 90 minutes south of me. However, there's a guy with a sign "Sewing Machine Repair" about 15 minutes from me. I decided to take the risk and go there. When I walked in I was really unsure of my decision. The repair man was ancient, the shop was ancient and I felt like I had gone back in time to 1970. The shop was packed with old machines, old parts, notions and dust. The owner went to work immediately on my machine and within an hour had determined that it was likely not my machine, but was my walking foot causing the issue, and unfortunately he couldn't fix it. I spent the hour prowling around his shop looking at all the old machines and parts (and really enjoying it). I ended up purchasing a foot for my 1892 Singer treadle and if I come back with the part I need another of, he'll root through his jars and help me find what I need. What a phenomenal find! I've been trying to get parts for what I need off ebay, but many sellers don't know exactly what they're listing so often you buy something that doesn't fit. He was impressed with my knowledge of treadles and insisted at the end that because he couldn't fix my machine, he wouldn't charge me. I tried to give him 20$ for his time, but he refused. I am so glad I went in and am glad that places like this still exist. I hope the girls lay some eggs this week so when I go back for parts I can at least give him a dozen eggs.

Hard to find shops and shop owners like that anymore. Grats on a great find! However, I had to say "ouch" when you said "The repair man was ancient, the shop was ancient and I felt like I had gone back in time to 1970." I was in high school then

Guess that pretty much makes me pre-historic

:celebrate i adore good repair men.

I would guess an old man (especially if he is alone) would prefer baked goods... Or your honey! :drool but eggs are actually maybe best... Nothing better than an over easy egg on toast.

Oh.... As to my Marans flock... I got to drive a total of 12 minutes, just from my house to the post office.

What floored me though... Is it sounds like she will not be hatching and selling chicks from them next spring. lots of folks will be bummed....
