The Old Folks Home

I would guess buff brahma as well. Doesn't look like puffy cheeks. I had dark, light and a buff rooster at one point. I really liked the hens. I lost the dark and buff roosters to a coyote (I think, they just disappeared) but the light roo turned into a stinker. He made excellent enchiladas. I have to admit, I wasn't impressed with their food to egg production. They laid nice medium eggs but they do eat quite a bit. They are a dual purpose bird though and Randy was a good size when I butchered him. Never butchered any of the hens but they felt pretty hefty.

I think the reason that all our chickens are laying at the moment is a combination of the added light I've got for them, and the fact that the last week or so we've actually had 2-3 sunny days, when the 2 months before that has been just rain and cloudy weather.

I bet they are from your area so used to laying in low light conditions.

Thanks everyone. I had forgot how hard it is to tell them all apart. lol I have been going thru the catalog looking at the pics trying to decide. Some I have figured out and a couple I think might be Marans. :) I really don't care as long as they lay eggs. lol

V them being from the extreme cold and lights would be the right combination. :)
