The Old Folks Home

I agree with Wisher, I had my son at 38. It changed my life around in a very good way. I got to be a kid again sledded down a hill, made snow men, walked in the forest preserve,
learned to Lego, read all the kids books and loved them. Before I had him I had never even picked up a baby. I taught him many things, and then he started teaching me. There is lot more to that but, don't want to get all sappy and soggy

I had my son at 34 and like Diva had never held a baby. Instant pardigm shift.

Oh and no hubby or even a significant other... only an Old boyfriend came to visit
He freaked and made me promise not to tell any of his family.

his loss.

I enjoyed being a mother, for the most part, except parts of their teenage years when I considered strangling them, but I'm glad I let them live.

I enjoy being a grandparent even more, and can send them home after I spoil them.

The quilts are soooo pretty. My grandmother quilted by hand, so I have a few quilts she did, but I have never had the patience for any type of sewing. It's not that I can't do it, or didn't have good teachers to show me how, it's just that I really hate it, so I don't do it.

And you don't have to! Everyone has something that they like to do. I enjoy quilting and not having babies.

We have an occassional visits from coyotes.......and they aren't afraid of humans as they once was. And that includes visits during daytime too.

Sorry you have the coyotes, glad you didn't need to carry for protection from two legged creatures.

Oh well it was just a thought.

We have also had a very mild winter here. Yesterday our big pear tree started blooming. It's a weird tree though. The top half blooms early and the bottom half blooms later on. I guess from our DH trying to kill it with some roundup. Half of the tree did die and break off but I fertilized the mess out of it and it started growing back new growth. Ever since it has split blooming.

Perfect! You get two crops from one tree!

I was up early but managed to fall back asleep until 0630. That was a mistake. Now I'm really groggy. The good news is I was able to check on and add wood to the stove the few times I was up in the middle of the night, so we have an awesome fire this morning.

The bad news is it is already warmer outside at sunup than it was all day yesterday. I guess we didn't need the fire.

Dsqard and myself are taking an online class that shows you how to quilt to show motion and texture. We had some fun stitching yesterday:

What part of tropical Maine do you live in? I've had a 24 hour fire going since September with a 1 week break when it got warm in October.

The quilts are very nice

Wisher... what if it wasn't, though? It's not like I can put it back where it came from.

My wife agrees with you. I suggested that option on several occasions over the last 23 years but she was pretty adamant that wasn't going to happen However, at those times she wasn't disagreeing with sending them somewhere, just not 'there'.
