The Old Folks Home

No reminder needed for that Bruce... The neighbor and her friend that came over both loved Mel and I told them the dog goes with me, but that she can have all the appliances and the lawn tractor ;-) And you're right, though only 6%, that's better than 12 grand... That will buy me a nice used John Deer (or kubota) legit tractor/bucket loader/box blade/back hoe/bush hog/etc.

Thanks Chicka!

Right now it's a toss up between east central TX (2-3 hours east of Dallas and preferably south) or KY (south of Cinncy and east, or far western section near Ohio and Mississippi rivers). What it comes down to is where I can get the most for my $$ when the time comes. Don't like sweltering heat (TX) can take or leave humidity (TX) and am becoming less cold (KY) tolerant but still take it better than the heat. Looking for 20+ acres with year round live water on the property, equal mix pasture and woods, and huntable with plentiful game, preferably deer and hogs. Found some real nice places already but of course they'll be sold by the time I'm ready to buy. I'm sure others will come on the market. Might have to get serious real soon.

Central texas area is not humid at all. Dry as dry can be and still grown green grass.

Humid Texas is over by the coast and swampy parts.

I love Texas, and heat.

That triangle area, between the highways that connect Houston to Austin and San Antonio is really nice.

Anyone got fun weekend plans? It will be warming up here by around noon - so afternoon I will be tackling the rest of the goat barn excrement and wasted hay fiasco from winter. I'm guessing 12 more giant wheelbarrows full.

Just going later this afternoon to wait in the lobby while my fiance gets his teeth cleaned. Sure not fun, but sounds more fun than all the work you have ahead of you.♡

Ah, but there is such a feeling of accomplishment when it's done!
That's very true :)

The TX area I'm most interested in is inside a triangle from Shreveport, LA to Tyler, TX to Lufkin, TX and back to Shreveport. Want eastern TX for the rains and moisture, but not too far south where I'd get potential hurricane damage. Did a search in the area you mentioned Al and there's nothing available there meeting my criteria

There's raw land that's nice, but I need a residence on it to get a loan. Thanks Diva

Tom-stick, Lol! I've only raised the broad breasted ones, done by fall.
I know wild turkeys are strutting and gobbling, rounding up their harems in April usually. Makes for a sucky May turkey hunting season.

I have eggs hatching right now!! Little baby Black Copper Marans (good ones) and a handful of Rhode Island Reds (better

!) I had four out and nothing else pipped, when I went to bed. I was worried that that was all I was going to get. I woke up to two more out and one more almost done zipping. I guess they are going to take turns so each gets it's moment in the spotlight. I only have one RIR chick out. It hatched from a tiny pullet egg. It was almost a large wind egg, but not quite. It was one of the first out and is a tenacious little thing. I may have to pull it out as it runs around pecking at the umbi stumps of all the others.....the little cuss.

You know you are an old timer when you look forward to springing forward for DST all winter and dread falling back all summer.
