I feel real bad for her. If we can't get this time cured we will likely cull her. She still enjoys long walks in the rain and scratching in the leaves, but for some reason spends most of her days up on the roost. I've had a few birds like that over the years. It's hard to get at her there and hard to monitor her there. I saw her out and about yesterday and noticed her feet were the worst they have ever been (and they've been bad). Some months, while they're swollen a bit, they're stable, so we leave it alone.
I just roused her from her roost and threw her in the basement brooder and gave her 200 mg of oral metronidazole... ish. She was not very cooperative and I wore some of the dose. She's not happy and I can hear her down there (quite clearly actually) making the angry turkey sound. She's probably going to wake BF up. She's definitely caught the interest of the cats, already.

SCG, hope you get her feet sorted.

We've been out in the yard putting together our pumpkin patch. Let the progression pictures commence!

5 foot semi-circle out of netting.

Branches and other pieces of wood.

Raw compost and assorted animal fecal matter.

Spent hay with loads of poop in it.

More raw compost.

And straw.

Semi cooked raw compost.

Rested compost on top, about 8 inches so far. Still needs some more but I'll wait for the pile to set a bit.

Anyone ever tried oral antibiotics to clear up bumble? I have a turkey with chronic bumble. We cut into it and treat it and it goes down. As soon as she goes back to the coop she gets it again.
Put on your Pharmacist hat--how would a staff infection for a person be treated?

Oral antibiotics don't correct bumblefoot.
If you use antibiotics, it has to be injected into the swollen area.
There is an herbal treatment used to treat bumblefoot in raptors and I've used it with good success. I'll try to find the link for you but basically it is soaking in warm Epsom salt, cleaning the foot well and then coating with a CEH ointment. That's Calendula, Echinacea and Hypericum. Then wrap the foot to keep it clean. Repeat daily.
