The Old Folks Home

Peep, I looked it up, that volcano is past Kodiak on the Alutian chain. So nope, not my backdoor. :)

It has been awhile since I have experienced an ash fall... Might be fun... But I don't think I will get any. I might, if the winds are just right, since it is spitting pretty high up.

We had a couple of "ash" falls last year--from wild fires.

It was terrible!

I thought my last ash fall was cool. It made the entire world glow orange at sunrise.

It was also great for the plant growth that spring.

Why was it bad for you?

It is a royal pain for air filters, car paint, and electronics.....

Millions of acres of land were burnt by fire last year.

The ash was not as bad as the smoke--It was very hard to breath.

The Sunsets were very pretty though.

during 2015. By the end of the year, 6,337 fires had been recorded by CAL FIRE, which burned an area of 307,598 acres (1,245 km2).[1]
On September 11, with the Butte Fire exploding from a size of 32,000 acres (129 km2)[2] to 65,000 acres (263 km2), in the Amador and Calaverascounties, Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency.[3]

Well, for most people, yep...

Not me though, I celebrate on May 2.

And nah, I didn't think you were sounding judgemental... I just got wordy.

And Diva, talking about heat... There was a bit of a

in our church today. Obviously the fat people had set the heater, and for the first time actually felt comfy, but the skinny people almost froze to death.

I was curious about when you celebrate Easter. Hope you post pics!

I would have loved to trade!!

I do not understand how the mint chip could haunt you....
idunno.gif
it is truly the best flavor ever.

I went back to the same store, decided to make sure I got mint this time... Turns out the end of the pistachio line is LABELED mint!

no wonder I picked up that horrid flavor last time.

I looked at the first four cartons that were lined up behind the mint label, all pistachio. Evil store.
I will never understand how anyone can not love mint anything!!! But, my DH does. Works out really well since he's an icecream aholic. I buy him his caramel whatever icecream and my chocomint. Anything else and he would plow thru his and be eyeing up mine by the next day. My mint is always sitting there waiting for me

I was even able to get two bottles with the pumps of the mint that Starbucks uses in their coffee concoctions super cheap from their website after Christmas. I keep one sitting on my counter to add to all kinds of stuff

It's the best mint flavoring I've ever tasted. No back "bite" at the end, not super sweet and you can tell it's made from actual mint. Can't wait to add it to my lemonade this summer.

Beat me to asking. I didn't think you were too close but thought you might be "down wind".

:yuckyuck :lau

Ron, yeah on the smoke from the fires. :sick was it two years back now when the fires up here git close enough that the smoke here was pretty bad. My poor asthmatic kid had lots of trouble, as did anyone else in the area with less than perfect lungs.

My eyes smarted the entire time...but at least my lungs are good, so breathing was fine for me, just stinky.

The one morning that we had our heaviest volcanic ash fall there was still snow on the ground, so the entire lanscape went from white to full on orange... Not just the sky, the ground and trees etc as well as the sky.

I thought I was hallucinating. I had to grab the kids and ask them what they saw. It was wild...sorry, no photos.

Chicki, sure! I will remember to post picks. We are still in the middle of the "drum roll" build up period. It is pretty exciting actually, all of the prelude stuff.

And her bumble is starting to improve. Her right side is visibly less puffed up between two of the toes. I am not sure if it's the antibiotics yet or her not sitting all darned day on a hard roost.

I'm tempted to say it's the antibiotics but I need more days of treatment and watching.
