The Old Folks Home

Ok, thought I would pass this along in case anyone might be interested. I just found a course on Coursera that sounded so interesting I had to enroll, mostly because it is taught by the staff of University of Edinburgh. After checking out the syllabus, it sounds like I might learn some neat European techniques. It's free of course to monitor (that's what coursera is all about after all) but you can pay if you want certification.

I'm sure you have all heard about the man whose doctor asked him how he was doing. The man said he was having a rough week. He explained that his ear was full of wax, his suppositories weren't doing him any good, and he couldn't find his hearing aid. The doctor looked in the man's ear and said, "That's not earwax! That's your suppository! That explains why it's not working!" The old man said, "Well, Doc, looks like you solved all my problems. I think I know where my hearing aid is, now."

Funny but, tragically sad as well! Who knows how many people are killed or badly injured through misuse of prescriptions and pharmacy items. For every profession there is certain jargon - that lay people do not understand.

At least some people do tell the doctor they are having problems - probably most just 'endure' - thinking it is the price of getting well.

Do you have something long and lightweight (like a length of PVC pipe) that you can use to gently herd them out?

I know my birds have been pretty shell-shocked after a predator attack, but they eventually settle back to more normal behavior. With these chicks, I'd be afraid something else might get them before hunger drives them out. Good luck with recovering them.

I'm about 488 posts behind, and I'm not reading them all. The past 3 weeks have been one heck of a ride. Daughter, and 3 grandkids had to move in with us temporarily. They've moved back into their own place now. In the meantime, we rent our home. Last year the rental agent told us the owner wanted us to paint it, and he would pay for the paint. It turned out really nice. Recently, the gate, and fence were in horrible condition, so the rental agent spoke to the owner, and it was agreed Dh could replace it, and they would reimburse him for the cost of materials. He did an excellent job, especially building the gate. The gate, and fence hadn't been finished for 3 days, when the owner informed the rental agent that he's not going to reimburse Dh for the fence, and gate, BUT he's selling the place, so we have to move.

While that sounds like a bad thing, it's really a blessing in disguise. When we moved in here, it was suppose to be temporary, until we found a place to buy. Dh is very resistant to change, and he's never bought a home before, so it's intimidating to him. I would point out homes, and he would make excuses. The rental agent is a very good realtor. When the owner of this place did us dirty, the rental agent pulled out all the stops, and is determined to get us into our own home.

Wow wisher I would be overwhelmed with all those eggs. Maybe you could donate some to a local food pantry. Just a thought.

Kluckychik good thing you got her!
But I feel ya on the loss.

Our dogs got a fox that tried to get ours a couple years ago.

We also charge 2.50 a dozen. We list most of our egg customers when we lost half our hens last year.

Gee since you didn't get reimbursed for the gate, etc. I wonder if it might just fall off and disappear ( bad weather , you know). I hope you get out of there fast, before he thinks of other stuff to gouge you on. Like damage you never caused.

Hope you can find a home you both like. After you do, I'm sure your hubby will be relieved and love it.
