They can wear you down.

Um, yeah, you already HAD a sleep study, they aren't going to learn anything new from another one. They can't test a TAP type device at the sleep center as they are custom made, like retainers, to fit YOUR teeth.
Step 1 is to inform the insurance company that just because the device is made by a dentist does NOT make it a solution to a dental problem, it is a MEDICAL device as your ENT can tell them. I had that problem with my current device. Rejected because it wasn't covered by my minimal (x-rays, cleanings, etc) dental insurance. Wrote a long letter informing them that the device has NO dental value whatsoever and that they would pay:
- forever for a CPAP and humidifier (which need to be replaced at intervals)
- massively expensive surgery which might not even work
But not for a durable medical device that was a solution to a MEDICAL problem, was PROVEN to work in my case and would last at least 10 YEARS??
They changed their minds but I still had to pay the entire $1,100 because the dentist is not on my "medical doctor in-network" list. No **** Sherlock, I bet there aren't ANY dentists on that list!! I had different medical insurance for the first one. None of this "in network BS", they paid a percentage for any durable medical device regardless of who made it.
If I can tear myself away at BYC I will be going to bed. My napping is involuntary - whenever I have to go to my room to change clothes, get papers etc. Next thing I know I have been "out" for hours. When I decide to sleep, I am tossing and turning all night(morning) whatever and cannot fall asleep. I never feel rested from any of this. I haven't been able to change any of this, so just accept it as normal for me.
Have you been checked for narcolepsy Diva? I have it and paired with natural biorhythm "low"s around 1-3 PM it is a CHORE to not fall asleep if I am not actively doing something. And waiting at a red light on the commute home from work was not one of those "active" things. When it got to that point I was checked and diagnosed. Now I have modafinil (generic Provigil). Doesn't take away the "want to sleep" feeling but does stop the "will fall asleep at inappropriate times" thing. Also means no afternoon nap if you want one. Since I am retired and don't need to be out driving around I don't take it every morning any more.
