No plans here. Let the kids play outside while I play in the garden. Just going shopping and probably eat out when dw gets home from work. I got a three day weekend, dw had to work...dw wasn't happy, neighbors fired off BIG fireworks Friday night, she had to get up at 3am, said she was going to blair her horn by their house in the morning....calm down hun, they stopped at ten, only happens once a yr, be a civil neighbor... Kids got to watch a good fireworks show for free :-D As many fireworks you hear here, every hill, multiple hills, everywhere, you'd think they were legal in NY. Big fair style fireworks. A farm in the town I work has a party every yr and spends $30thou on fireworks. Many personal parties have better fireworks shows than the county or state fairs. Have a happy 4th everyone! !!So... changing the subject since y'all can't seem to stay away from it. Happy 4th of July to my American friends. I will be canning some jam today (bf got me some peaches at the grocery store that are tolerable) - and then working on basting then quilting a quilt for a high school kid that I know. Her grandmother just passed. That quilt has cardinals on it, which are supposed to represent the spirit world. I think that's a bunch of hooey but the quilt is pretty nonetheless and I love birds. I've had the quilt top done for a couple months but been at a loss as to how to complete it and where it would go. I now know both of these things, so it's time to dig it out. I am also working on an online quiltalong with Dsqard on another quilt top, again with birds. I got caught up (mostly, there's some minor embroidery that needs to be done putting baby birds in the nest and a string holder for the bird house). It isn't done, there's still another session on outer borders with another section of birds like the middle, but that part won't be posted for another 10 days so I can't work on it until the leader posts those instructions. Here the work in progress is as of last night:We will also watch fireworks when it gets dark. My house is on a hill overseeing a body of water here in Central Maine. Don't get too excited, you can't see it in summer with the leaves on the trees and you can only see about 2 inches worth in the winter if you squint. However, my town lights fireworks off a boat on said body of water each year, which are very visible from my front stoop. I'll be partaking in that this evening. What are y'alls plans?
@bruceha2000
it's fun playing "spot the bunny," isn't it? (When they aren't devouring all your plantings, anyway) We get wild rabbits around here, too - both Cottontails and Swamp Rabbits. A young swamp rabbit has been spotted grazing under the swing several times in the last couple of weeks, and I see a cottontail near the rabbitry almost every day.
Compared to the cottontails, yeah. To those unfamiliar with them, they almost don't look rabbits.Does your swamp rabbits have barely any ears like ours?
This quilt is very beautiful and I am sure the other one is also. You and dsqard do such beautiful work.So... changing the subject since y'all can't seem to stay away from it.

Pics deleted to save scroll time. Nice shots Bruce! It sure is nice to have a plethora of wildlife around the homestead, isn't it? A major part of why I want more land in a less populated area. Love the doe with fawns.We have a crop of rabbits this year. Seems like a new little "teacup" bunny shows up every 3 weeks or so.
Yes, these are some of my chickens but there is a rabbit above the White Rock on the right.
The little ones are terribly cute
We think the one under the car is licking salt off the rocks.
And a doe decided that the fenced in area behind the barn was a good place to have babies. They are mostly in the tall weeds behind the pond but they come out sometimes. The fawns run like puppies on the mowed part between the barn and pond. The doe jumps (easily) the short fence and goes who knows where but the fawns aren't quite there yet.
