The Old Folks Home

@perchie.girl that was how these fish tacos were made, with battered fried fish, with pico de gallo, fine shredded cabbage, sour cream. Except they threw on fresh cilantro like it was lettuce. ..

My stepson started an online hot sauce business when he became disabled called "Michigan Hot Sauce Club". His sauces were pretty good. If there is anything that can be said about him its he knew what tasted good.

I grow horseradish, have a bunch of it growing next to the rhubarb. Fresh grate it as needed Keep a root in the fridge in a plastic bag in a paper lunch bag. Just peel it back a little and grate, hottest and most flavorful fresh. Only use it in cocktail sauce and for roast beef sandwiches. Love the fake wasabi they have for sushi, that stuff will clean out your sinuses.
I'd like to buy a wasabi plant, one of the seed magazines I get has plants, $25 for one plant is a lot of $ if it dies though. Have some nice old spring runs on the hill out back that would be great for growing it. http://www.territorialseed.com/product/wasabi They also have some wasabi arugula http://www.territorialseed.com/product/wasabi-arugula-seed
Yrs ago place I used to work buddy was eating a bag of candy covered peanuts, asked if I wanted some, tossed a few in my mouth started chomping, spit them out and almost puked, candy covered wasabi peanuts....super gross

Don't eat sushi & not a big wasabi fan... guess I'm a wuss. Not really into "hot" foods, or what some masochists like. I like a little heat/spice, but I've had jalapenos that were too "hot".

Boiled peanuts are awesome when prepared correctly.
We sometimes boil them in water seasoned with shrimp/crab boil seasoning. Can hardly wait until fall

Mom had them once on their trip to Boston when she and dad were newly weds.... driving cross country.... She loved em. Flash back to now about a year or two ago she saw an ad for Boiled Peanuts on TV...

So We are headed to Popeyes Chicken for Take out and she chirps.... Popeyes Has those Boiled peanuts we have to get some they were wonderful... I thought a bit... "I dont think so mom" she insisted and I gave up.

Drive through.... I order the chicken and moms prodding me.... "Do you have boiled Peanuts" You could hear crickets... This is California remember... A vioce on the other side said "What Mam?" "Do you have boiled Peanuts" Again Crickets.... then a Bigger boss voice came on asking me what I was ordering.... "Do you have Boiled Peanuts" only a slight pause.... "We dont have anything Boiled here" "OK" and I poked mom back It was then I realized through the speakers they were most likely hearing something else...

We were giggling when we got to the drive through window... the gal at the cash register had a straight face but you could see others peeking to see who in the heck was in our car..

I still wont let mom live it down.
