The Old Folks Home

Before I read what you wrote I just looked at the photos and thought "what is wrong with Ron's Pen.... (However you spell them)"

I bet the white eggs make your dark brown eggs pop!

Some of the eggs are light brown. Others are white and very large!

Also, It was hot here today and we have not had rain since May. Of course that is normal here.

Wisher, I'm pretty sure I AM THE ONE that sent you that wonderful surprise. But, just to jog my memory post a photo of all the contents, including the items you cannot thank me for because of bad luck. :)

That is the problem we are having.... I am worried that there will be no more hay this summer, and that means I will be short this winter

Ditto. Same here. Went to town yesterday (in the rain of course) and we could see cut hay laying in the field with no chance of being saved. Supposed to stop raining for at least two days here so I'm harassing the DH to hook up the trailer so we can go get a load of first cut from a farmer a couple miles from us while he still has any. We're biting the bullet and buying a new shed (DH has finally admitted he's getting too old to build another one and his grown up boys have been MIA every time dad needed help for the past couple of years) so I can store my hay closer to the critters to make less dragging, shoveling thru the snow. Just making it easier on the grandma in the winter. Pa is going to build a new roof over the the grow out pen to give a safer area from hawks and so the girls can play in that area in the winter without us having to shovel it out.

I can't believe how much rain some of my FB chook friends are dealing with. Several of them have been forced to bring their birds into the house to keep them from drowning and I haven't even heard from others so I can only pray for them. My granddaughter is a primate keeper at zoo in Florida and even tho they are south of the main flooding she says they have their hands full with flooding in the zoo as well.

SCG- I can't believe you are having such a strong drought!!!

That is just bazaar. Wish I could send you some rain. We have plenty to share.

Well time to get out and go deal with some chicken drama. Have a safe and blessed weekend everyone!

The last hour or so has been on and off drizzle. It is still dry under the tree canopy in the chicken run, meaning we haven't gotten more than a tenth of an inch, but still, it's nice to get something.

Happy weekend, y'all. What is everyone up to? I'm feeling a bit sick, but not too bad and will be working on an Xmas gift (sewing of course) today. BF is recovering from a week of overnights so darn, the vacuuming and cleaning will have to wait.

I will be going up onto the roof to connect an antenna--We have cut the cable but still want to see the Olympics.

@Peep_Show

I agree with Alaskan on the zip off pants. For some years I would wear my long underwear to work and, having a door on my office, would strip down and take the off after I arrived. Reverse the process before leaving. Otherwise it would be WAY TOO HOT all day long.

Then I got some side zip ski pants, windproof with some Thinsulate. No more stripping, don't even need to take your shoes off to remove the "sure don't need it inside" layer. Of course, if it was cold enough to need the pants, there were boots to remove before putting on the dress shoes that lived in the office all winter. But if you are out in the January weather in Iceland and go into a restaurant, they would be easy to remove even if you leave your boots on given you are unlikely to carry "inside" shoes around.

And don't worry too much about fashion. I ASSUME the Icelanders are practical people and whatever footwear appropriate for the temperatures and weather is appropriate for inside at any public place.
