The Old Folks Home

Deb that's terrible.

After 2 days of sewing I need a break. lol
I had some scraps left over from the fat quarters so I did a couple hot pads so far.

I have the brown koozies cut out but have to put them together.

I got Noah's Ark done.

Also went to the eye doctor today. While he doesn't recommend throwing boiling water in your eye (even by mistake) he said it looks like it is healing just fine.

It started to snow today, too, but just spitting snow.

Spent the last few hours cleaning all the windows (in and out) on the main living floor of the house. Can't waste any sunlight the next few months. Some of them were really filthy. I bet I will lose an "R" value of insulation just from cleaning them and getting rid of the grime. The bay windows looking out from the kitchen sink are also in pretty bad shape as far as the wood goes. For some reason they're drying out, bad. I stuck some of my homemade beeswax and oil furniture rub on them, and they soaked it up and look amazing, now. I've been saving beeswax for a few years now. I made candles one year, but I think I'm going to save the rest of it and make more of this furniture polish.

Scg that's great to hear your eye is ok and healing.

Your Noah's Ark looks great! I sure wish I could do that much hand sewing. Your animals are fantastic! (There's no way I could do that much hand sewing).

I love bee's wax candles.

I'll bet your bees wax polish will last a long time on your sills.

Took only one glass blowing class and realized that to do most projects I'd be interested in would take two people and an industrial workspace. Ergo, I do lampwork, which is basically me hunched over a dual-fuel torch with mandrels, rods of glass and a kiln and convincing them to all work together nicely to make pretty beads. If the glass rods are too cold, have air bubbles in them or if they had rough handling, they can be *shocky* which means when heat is applied to them they burst apart and go flying in red-hot chips and molten blobs. LOVE that Silverdene! (And long-sleeved t-shirts) Worst mishap I saw was at a class where such a rod popped a piece INSIDE a gal's nostril.

This is a necklace I made for a friend's birthday. The blue-colored glass (called "copper green" because of the metal component in it which gives it a lustrous sheen) had a nice reaction with the ivory frit and created pencil-like outlines on the beads.
Beautiful.

BTW- your glass class mishap reminded me of a woodcarving class. Guy across the table from me was working on a beautiful horse. Suddenly blood everywhere! The poor guy nearly severed a thumb.

So glad to hear your eye is ok

Your cute critters remind me of the felt ornaments I made for our tree when the kids were small. Did an entire Old McDonald's farm theme. Wish I still had it.

Wow you too make jealous as I have barely had any time in my sewing room
between going to see Ma it is about 55 miles one way so most everything is put
on hold here to see her but way worth it
