The Old Folks Home

Thank you for responding and sharing your wisdom Superchemicalgirl and Penny1960

Yes, I'm using a U40 on him. We kicked him back to 3 units BID. I feel guilty. It's the first time I've ever countered a vets RX but he isn't living with the little guy and seeing how he is acting.

Penny, first and foremost, take care of yourself.

Don't feel bad. The package insert says to start with 1-2 units q12, not 3. You know your animals better than the vet does, and frankly my vet trusts me. She Rxed some prednisolone for the sick cat I had and gave me general instructions and told me to titrate to effect. Now, she did know the cat lived with 2 pharmacists, but the vet also trusts that we know what's best and can see how the animal is acting. I think yours would feel the same way.

I spent most of the morning and into the afternoon making blackberry jelly to give as Christmas gifts. All was going well until I went to move the kettle with the hot jelly off the stove and the stupid handle failed dumping about a pint of boiling jelly on the stove, on the floor and almost on me. I managed to dance back a few steps and avoid most of it. When I got the bulk of the goo scraped off the cook top I discovered that it had etched the glass in several places.

Is till managed to come away with 5 jars of jelly. I am REALLY starting to hate my blackberry arbor.

Thanks SCG. I have my doctor well trained. He knows my husband is a retired eye doctor and I am a retired nurse so he trusts me to know when I need to come in and usually only reads me the riot act when I let my back go for too long when it is out, which is usually three weeks out of 4, LOL. I do know what you are talking about though.

I seriously think the food has been the deciding factor with our cat's response to the insulin. He has been such a good cat, friendly, funny and up until now as healthy as a horse. I would much rather have him run a little high at his age and have a good quality of life for whatever time he has left than have him trying to function with his blood sugar in the 50s. He has rapidly developed neuropathy in his hind legs. DH wants to check his eyes to see how his vision is but so far he seems to be ok there. We know the day is coming soon where we will have to let him go with dignity.......but not today.

@microchick your are the only ones to decide that kinda funny saying other half is retired eye guy
I stopped going to the one I had ad he always wanted to find the cause and cure for mine
I kept say it really is not making much of a deal cannot change it cannot make it better
just no more lights in your field tests

Girl, you need to find yourself a nice eye doc who will listen to you and keep an eye on your eyes, so to speak. I have a cousin who is diabetic and being treated for wet macular degeneration. Not fun, but they have saved most of her vision. So they can make it better, but as I told many of our patients, we can only help you if you come in.Me, I have a strange form of glaucoma. It's called low pressure glaucoma. First time my husband checked my eyes he asked me what my last eye doctor had me doing and I told him nothing........I went home with a hand full of eye drop samples that I still use to this day.
