It sounds like your niece should come live with Aunt Penny (if you don't mind!)

I think I was a farm wife in a past life because when I COOK i make enough for about twelve people.... Not four one eats like a bird one is picky wont eat beans or ham and one wont come over after four because she cant drive at dusk....

So that leaves ME to eat two pounds of beans and four FREAKING ham hocks.... Its a challange but I think I can do it...

Beans and ham hocks. Now that brings back memories. Loved the beans, never could warm up to the ham hocks tho which always baffled my southern born mother. I swear I can inhale and still smell them simmering in the kitchen.

I am so freaking sick and tired of this weather we are having. The sun hasn't been seen around these parts for over a week for longer than a half of an hour. Everything is soggy. The mud is horrible. I can't keep the coop bedding dry and have given up. The roosters are not cooperating and I just about slid out on the mud trying to chase one of them into their coop tonight. But the humidity doesn't go down enough nor does the sun come out long enough to dry things out. Nor has it helped that it's been raining off and on for two days now and the chickens are determined to be out in it. Wet chickens in the coop. I REALLY hate winter anymore.

Not much left in my side of the family either. One niece that just had a baby. She is my brother's daughter. I found out about my great nephew two months after he was born. What's the old saying? You can pick your friends, you can even choose your enemies but you are stuck with your family?

Try beans and smoked neck bones.... dont have those slab of skin to deal with.... LOTS of flavor though.

Yep my family is very small. Grandma Mom Me and my son. No aunts and uncles or nieces and nephews. Of course grandmas family is big but they are very distant cousins to me. Never really knew them.
