The Old Folks Home

Where can you get a UVB parasol? I've used a wide brim hat (among other things) for many years. It would bring out all sorts of negative reactions from passersby.
One year I got egged twice - got my shoes icky. (nah nah, they missed me) and also had water thrown on me by someone driving past. I was afraid it was acid or something. Thankfully not.

Teenagers would delight in running me off the shoulder (no sidewalks here) and making nasty remarks. How boring their lives must be - that I became their entertainment.

The nicer populace would just refer to me as the "Lady with the hat.

Wow! That is so beyond mean & rude!!! :hugs I'm sorry! My hats are giant too, but in this area that's probably the least weird thing you'll see. There was one day we were out on a hike & two women passed us on the trail. As is our custom, we smiled & said hi as we passed, but they just walked passed glaring at DD1 & her parasol with these horrid, snarling faces. I have no idea how a parasol (or a hat) can make people so angry & aggressive.

We've bought all of ours (3) off the internet (amazon & ebay.) They all come from across the pond & take a good 3wks to get here, but they've been great! We've worn ours with everything from sundress to shaggy cutoffs & tshirts. If you get one, make sure it specifically says for UVB protection & has a black liner on the under side. That black liner is the key to keeping reflections from water or concrete off you & is what makes the temperature cooler.

I wish I could smack those teenagers upside the head for you!!!:smack
