The Old Folks Home

Anyone have fun plans for the 4th?
Have a big pork roast marinating in Weber teriyaki marinade with pineapple juice, bought a six pack of girlie Zima just because I haven't had any in a couple decades Lol!
Just BBQ and drinks and fireworks later with fam, hopefully it doesn't rain.....

I plan on taking it easy on the fourth. We did go to a reservoir that was built to store water to flood a nuclear power plant yesterday. It was cool but a bit creepy to be there. The power plant has been decommissioned.

Is a place like that ever safe to be around throughout our lifetime after it's decommissioned?

Actually have the 4th off this yr, been long time. Last couple days off was nice also. BBQ' d up a few marinated birds. Word of advice don't grill a old Silkie...very tough and chewy ... thought it would be OK beings we roasted a couple awhile ago low and slow in oven and were great, tender juicy and sweet, slow grilled not at all..
Good thing I had another couple young birds on.
Today a couple venison roasts on the grill, one marinated in garlic and herb dressing and other soaked in BBQ sauce, OMG they were delicious :drool

Layin low.... We have a new dog and have no clue wether she will be bothered by the fireworks...

I am very happy that you got a new dog. It will probably be good for you. :)

Beer, there ya go again! Now I am not sure if I am hankering for the garlic one or the BBQ one. :drool

I'm heading into town tomorrow to buy fireworks. They are calling for a 50% chance for rain but that just makes it all the safer to shoot off fireworks in the pasture. Thank goodness Missouri upholds it's citizen's God given right to blow their fingers off with cherry bombs!

I have to work tomorrow and then on Wednesday. It is Summer Sessions at the University so classes are in session and I have to be on call for computer and AV emergencies
