The Old Folks Home

My Grandfather from Dad's side was born in 1895 and died in 1972. He lived through a lot of stuff!

NPR had a segment that said we are just a bit higher in wages on average than the 1970s. Of course these are averages. The bottom is much worse and the top is much better. Wealth is more concentrated at the top end so yes, it is worse for lower middle class.

Our young ones will live with the specter of the 2008 great recession and the longest war in our History--Which is still going on and more troops were sent over recently.

It is all relative but I expect that my Daughters will be more like my Grand parents when it comes to frugality. Some of the stats on the new generation show them to be quite different as a generation--less drugs, drinking and etc.

It's another grey, gloomy day here today. I'd love to see some sun. It hasn't been around for about 4 days now. I guess mother nature is getting us used to winter gloom early this year.

:barnie We have been raining for almost 3 months.... rained last night...no rain right now, but overcast.

I read somewhere once that dogs have the emotional developement and stability of a 3 year old child.

But they still act like 2 yr olds, LOL.

They were calling for it to get sunny later on in the day here. It still hasn't. When I went out to let the chickens out there was a heavy drizzle coming down. I think the rain is supposed to hold off till Friday night with rain through Sunday. The ground is saturated now so any more rain is just going to make things worse.
