The Old Folks Home

Thanks for that info! :) How cold does it get there in winter?;)
It was in Southwestern TN, so cold in winter and very hot in summer. Lots of freezing and thawing. Finger, TN was where we lived. You can check out the climate to compare to yours. Only snow a couple times a winter usually.

I suggest building in stainless steel. Weld all seams vice bolt or screw, hence no cracks for mites/bugs. No problems with critters eating through the wood to get in. No fear of mold/mildew, no painting required. Unbeatable life expectancy. Safe unbeatable protection from bears and other large predators. Will take pressure washing with no problem. Side benefits: In summer, you have a ready made solar oven and easy after cooking clean up with a little dish soap and the pressure washer :celebrate

Or I could use one of these and not have to build. :p Look at all my venting! :lau

This is actually what I'm wanting to paint. They're already made and sitting on the lawn. They may have been waiting for a while on me.

Would this also suffice? This the building to be retrofitted for chickenry. It's been sheeted with metal.:wee Yes, I will be painting the inside too. :p

If you really feel the need to paint the inside of the coop, I suggest a visit to whatever hardware/big box/paint store you have closest and ask if they have any "FUBAR" paint. Invariably they'll have multiple gallons that you can get for a song as nobody else will want them. You can sometimes get top of the line paints for pennies on the dollar. Since chickens don't really care about the paint color, you shouldn't either but of course you can select from whatever particular colors they have and choose what suits you best. ;)
They probably don't...but I do since I have to look at it. (No warm colors!)
Everyone picks warm colors.:barnie I have three pails of bright white. On sale. ;)

It's somewhat comparable...not quite as cold but close. Thank you! :wee
:clap

nice buildings
All the buildings got tinned about 20 years ago. Unfortunately that building was a seed grainery and it was covered before anyone had a chance to empty it. MIL was a bit hasty.
It's still sitting with seed wheat in it. :th I want to get it cleaned out and use it. We have to get the cleaner out. I'd like to permethrin it and paint it inside. Before the chickens are moved in... laughing.gif
