The Old Folks Home

The reserve near us was forced to euthanize all of his herds of white tail, mule deer and elk.

Now as we are in the adjacent county, we have to have deer taken on our property tested for CWD the first three days of the hunting season. After that it's voluntary. It's one of those things where they say, Oh we really don't think that CWD is transmitted to humans but don't eat the meat from any infected animal. DUH! Prion disease, mad cow disease, chronic wasting disease, what ever they want to call it on any given day cannot be eliminated from meat by cooking or freezing. We read one study where a group of hunters that gathered once a year for a game fry had a large number of attendees contract prion disease. Over a course of 20 years 12 were diagnosed with the disease and the only thing they had in common was that they had attended this game banquet. DH read the report and has been trying to find it again. Scary stuff though.

We have a tornado watch till 1AM here. Storm have been rumbling through all evening. Nothing severe thank goodness but lots of rain and rumbles. Kind of late in the year for this stuff but then I reminded DH that the Washington IL tornado happened on November 13.

Stay Safe!

Seems like a lot of mother nature issues lately

Mother Nature does not like what we are doing to the planet. Mankind is like an infestation, destroying and polluting everything in its path. Nasty chemicals in everything and plastic everywhere you go. It is shameful.
The disasters are definitely getting worse is seems. The fire that is still burning in the Wine Country is being called the worst in history.

My sister has a condo at the Silverado Country Club (Westgate Road) that miraculously survived. All the neighborhood surrounding it is torched, along with 8+ condos in her complex. Some folks I went to high school with have the house across the street from the Rippeys (the elderly couple that were among the first casualties) at Atlas Peak and Westgate. The fire came on so quickly that the wife didn't have a chance to get to her car and had to run across the golf course to safety. Total loss... The only thing standing on their property is a chimney and a warped and twisted spiral staircase.

Cousin lost his house in Santa Rosa, along with my former boss.

The CA fire hasn't stopped. Very scary.

The wind kicked up again today and fanned the flames. It is all quite sad. I suspect it will keep burning until we get a good rain, which could be weeks away. Containment will hopefully stop it from spreading soon

Some fires are like that, they just roar along, consuming everything in their path. Horrible!
