The Old Folks Home

Here is what my SonIL put on their deck steps ^ they are pre-grooved deck stair treads. He installed them recently and I saw them for the first time this weekend. Funny to come home to the OFs talking about stairs!

@superchemicalgirl re: weekend plans
I was gone for the weekend to DD's house to help with the grandkids while she helped coordinate a Fall Fest at their church. Played Legos, horses and Hot Wheels, read books, watched Paw Patrol, PJ Masks and World of Horses and manned the Trunk or Treat while she took the kids to play games. I'm exhausted! :old
....from the weekend and from catching up on all the gabbing!
Good Job Mary!

You get to help while enjoying the Grand Kids!

Traction on stairs and walkways is good! It's amazing I still like the color green after the number of banana peel slip-and-falls I've had due to algae and/or moss at my folks' properties. My hip twinges just at the memory of it.

Moved both Hatch No. 1 and Hatch No. 2 into my ancient Brower brooder. In a stroke of genius and in an effort to keep any mice wanting chick crumbles out of the garage, we stashed the brooder into the greenhouse on the property (which I have desired to be my art studio once retrofitted, but at present used for storage as I've been too busy to focus on getting it done.) It got up to a nice near 90 degrees in there, meaning the brooder didn't have to suck watts like it usually does. Took a peek during the day and chicks were lounging around and doing chick things, so it looks like a good place to start the little darlings. AND it is fairly rodent proof!

:celebrate :wee

On the hatch and chick move!

Well BF wanted to finish it in the pitch dark so we did. Still need to pick up some fill to make the bottom level, but it's got some brick support, for now.

but, but, but...what about the snow? You have the deck right up against the door sill. How will you keep the snow out of the house? I would have dropped the deck 4 inches.

@Peep_Show Does the greenhouse not have crazy temp swings between night and day? Those usually have so little to no insulation.

I am happy to do what is asked. Others on the team keep wanting to do more though. A couple of them are combining articles when a member made 7 or even 8 articles about building one coop. Me, I would leave them alone since that is what the member did.

:pop I am waiting to hear from Sumi "toddler wrangler" says bout it. I tend to lean on the side of caution when messing with other peoples stuff...even when those members may not be active anymore
I think if they thought it was a important addition to the site, they would resubmit or redo their articles themselves if they don't see them here. Be nice if all gets transferred smoothly but IMHO it isn't going to take long before there is more articles than any one person could ever read.
