The Old Folks Home

I prefer a shower. When we had a well the water came out brownish, nobody wanted to be in a tub of brown water. If you filled a glass and let it stand, you'd see all the gunk at the bottom- loads of iron.

My parents used to drive to a cousin in the city and fill up tons of bottles from the garden house. Of course later they said garden hose wasn't made to drinking quality.

Once we got city water years later, we stuck with the showers.
I haven't taken a bath since the water restrictions. It is hard to reduce water usage 20% if you take baths.
Showers with severe water saving shower heads and time limits here

Some people less than 2 miles away from us (as the crow flies) and their camper park have horrible sulfur smelling water. Our garden sand point well water is perfect, the deep well we drove for the house a couple years ago has more iron but definitely not as bad as your well was! That's a good thing because there is absolutely no chance of us ever seeing a city water line. The last house on the town well line is roughly 10 miles or so up the county road. The only reason they have "city" water at all is because of our k-12 school building. Many years ago the state said because of the school building, the restaurant on the highway, the tavern next door, a couple other buildings gas station, and the maybe 50 houses, the septic tanks had to go and a sewer system had to be put in which required a water system, thus the village well. Which all the town folks hate because the water bills are not cheap. The "village" tried to make us "township" folks pay for water/sewer too by trying to tack it onto our property tax, you can imagine how well that flew. It was almost the Boston tea party all over again!!! :lau

Even with all that, the water\sewer bill was $138.00 last month

never had to pay for water here either till this house and like your it goes 75.00 to 140.00 about every other month they come out and read the meters.. sorry for the typos it is early :hmm

We have a wireless transmitter on the meter so they do not come out to read it. Our water is the second highest our area because Woodland, Davis and UC Davis are getting water from Shasta Lake now instead of wells.

It is much better water but we have to par for all of that

allot of folks are having to move from their old family homes in Seattle because the housing prices and taxes are so high they cannot afford it now

Yep!
Imagine trying to find housing in Santa Rosa after the fires. In the Bay Area, Gouging is going on with prices raised in a predatory way. The State had to stop it. I doubt that they caught it all. Housing prices are already very high there!
