The Old Folks Home

Yes I have a pellet stove and 2 wood stoves.

I have homework tonight - I'm supposed to make the patient NPO this evening, then do q1 hr vital signs complete with output measurement and blood pressures. At least that's what I got from what the furnace guy said over the phone today.

I'm going to make him regret this - he's getting a nursing flow sheet with my q1 hr checks, in metric.

It's going to be p.r., p.r.n.

:yuckyuck:goodpost: I REALLY love this. Too bad the patient is NPO you could really have fun with intakes thrown in for good measure.

If it pees, call it an emesis.

How much ya wanna be the guy reads the flow sheet, stands there and scratches his head and says 'huh?'

I'm so glad you have heat. I was worried with this from coming in.

Furnace guy :smack:smack:smack

Yes, and considering what they get paid compared with what a nurse gets paid an hour and it'll make you weep.

I remember one my husband had a landscaper come in once and grate the 'employee' gravel parking area behind our office. When we got the bill for an hour's worth of work he just shook his head and said he studied the wrong profession.

It's really painful to think that a plumber, electrician, furnace repairman, etc makes more per hour than people who hold our lives in their hands.

Yeah, when i graduated nursing school i could have made more money as a cashier than as a nurse at the hospital. Ridiculous! No wonder i quit.

Yes you did!

I hope the b-12 works for you.
Whew! That's good! :clap:wee
I hope to read a bit more on the B12 and on the elevated liver enzymes.
Maybe shock her when I go back next week. evillaugh.gif :clap

I always had children of elderly parents, middle aged, upper middle age come up to me in the nursing home almost in tears after visiting their parent with Alzheimers or Dementia and telling me they were so affraid that they were going to wind up like 'mom' or 'dad' or 'granny'. They would inevitably tell met hat they were 'loosing things' and forgetting names. I would hug them and ask them this question. When you loose your car keys and find them. Do you know what you are supposed to do with them? They would blink at me and say 'Why of course, I use them to start my car.' I would just pat them on the arm and say, 'you are normal. When you loose your car keys, find them, then cannot remember what you do with them, time to see your doctor.'

Their faces would light up and they would hug me and thank me. Simple pimple.
That's so good of you to put their minds at rest.
I'm not surprised you'd do such a good deed. ;) :hugs
@wickedchicken, wanted to add, good for you, getting a good going over like you should with your health challenges.

It's even easier and more pleasant when you can connect with your doctor.
Whether I like it or not! :lau But I can respect someone who can put me through the paces so to speak. (I think that's why I respect DH so much. He's very much my equal and won't let me get away with stuff...lol.) I have become complacent about parts of my health where I've hit a brick wall on in the past. Maybe I'll get somewhere on things instead of being in limbo. ;)

I hope it works out...I did not connect so well with her the first time. :p

Yeah, it stinks when you have a jerk for a doctor, but i will be changing by Jan. Both my primary and my ENT will be history.

that is VERY good to know. Wish it were happening sooner.
I agree with Al. I hope you can find someone who can help you.:hugs
That would just be sucky if I had to do that. I just HATE breaking in and training a new doctor!:lau
Me too. I think they think I'm a bit strange. I can't imagine why?
