The Old Folks Home

I'm exhausted. We picked a bushel of apples (and a friend picked another half). I've used up half already. Two batches of apple butter (still cooking down), one batch of apple maple jam (plus another batch with a friend), an apple pie from scratch (with homemade vanilla custard ice cream - same recipe as previously posted but without the pecans)... tomorrow is more apple pancakes (for guests who really want it), canning the apple butter, plus another thing of apple maple jam, plus make some apple bread and cinnamon spread for it. And my regular two loaves of bread... and I gotta finish up my sewing project. And BF bought me another gallon of unpasteurized milk at the farm today for me to make mozzarella.

Your have been so busy!

It might be chilly but it's finally not raining. Apple picking today!

Then I'm going to start some apple butter tonight.

I love this time of year.

What plans do y'all have for the weekend?
Getting ready for DH B-day party tomorrow, big 62! Wish I had some of your apples to make him that pie! Wish I had your energy to make all that other stuff too, Wow!! Sounds deelish:thumbsup Chirp

Kids had their first soccer games of the season yesterday!! Exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. One team has young coaches 16 and 17 so I"m glad for them, the coaches, that their effort is paying off. ANd for the other team, the 10/11 yrs olds, , over half the team are new players and some have never played soccer. A good team for the new players to be on as we are all about having a good game , not so much about winning. There is another coach that poaches all the good players just to make sure he has the winning team . . . . so our team ends up with all his rejects. NO matter . . . our kids have a great time playing . . . . . Both teams won.

Today is laundry day . . . suddenly there is a mountain of it!!

That looks like a bit of work !!! WHat material did you use??

We used 4x6 welded wire and treated fence posts the top we used wood on the hen run on top of the fence posts and in the rooster run DH used some pipe he had laying around to keep the top up high enough so we can walk thru the runs. We also used some heavy duty rubberized tarp over part of the hen run to protect them from the weather or sun.
