I know. You hear so much about OEGBs being such good mothers/broodies. I'm willing to give the broody a second chance but her sister is on a watch list. I've seen her peck my smaller BBR bantam pullets that are pure bred and I don't trust her very far at all. I told DH that with her aggression towards smaller birds that if she kept it up, I'd cull her. I have a couple of her daughters from other broody's hatchings that I'm holding my breath with and hoping that it isn't something genetic. Their redeeming quality is that they are excellent layers.
The incident was enough for me to come to the decision that I needed a separate structure for my broodies and hatchlings that was away from the main flock. I put in a request to Santa Baby for a cedar coop kit that I could set up next to the main coop for my broodies and babies. Since it would only be used during breeding season it didn't have to be insulated and since it wasn't going to be a 'main' coop a kit should work for the project.....I hope.
