The Old Folks Home

I'm haning a "Doh" day-- only just realized why everyone is talking about Nine- Eleven.

Maybe it is because in many ways I have put it behind me. LIke my BIL. HE flew out of BOston one flight ahead of the hijackers, and was working in DC that fateful day. He was at one of the buildings thought to be a target. He stayed to shut down the building when it was evacuated. He continued to fly out of BOston every Mondayto DC for the next few years. IT didn't bother him.

SO many lost that day . . and so many more lost in Iraq since . . . . . .

Linda-- my printer has the same problem, so I send docs to my local Postal USA to print out. THey can refax for me too. DO you have anything like that around?? I know you have a long drive to anywhere.
Well, my wonderful financial advisor (thebirdguy, in case anyone needs a great financial planner) called with a work-around, I went back into my "office" and when I turned on the danged printer it spit out six copies - all three pages - so the work-around wasn't necessary. Request signed and faxed. Both WHOOT! and WHEW!

My "duh" moment was this morning. I noticed that the flags at the schools were at half staff, and wondered in a vague sort of way what that was about. It wasn't until later that I realized what the date was, so I was like,

Hey, I've got a cold. Physical functioning is all I can do, mental activity is at a minimum.

Holy cow, is it really Wednesday already??!

My entire flock surrounded me when I opened the coop this morning, expressing a desire for more feed. Guess feed dust isn't enough to support it. Silly me. They almost didn't let me get into the car to go get feed. I left before the Keurig brewed my first cup of coffee, so my brain wasn't chugging on all its cylinders.

I realized the date when I signed the credit slip and paused to remember how I called my Comm Center at 6:20 to tell the dispatchers to turn on the TV set right after the second plane hit the Tower. The Pentagon plane crash happened whilst I was driving to work. Those next few months were surreal in the 9-1-1 "community" no matter the jurisdiction across the nation.

I hate that some scumbags lied about being survivors or family members of victims in order to get money. What nerve! What totally reprehensible behavior!

After the flock was fed, I sat drinking my coffee with a chicken on my lap, nicely grounded in the present.

Oh, it was on during all the previous attempts. I just kept closing out the alert box showing "printer not responding" and deleting the printer job queues. Except, apparently, for the last one.... "something" recovered.

<*glaring in the general direction of the stupid printer*>
