The Old Folks Home

Not snowing here, yet. We got downgraded last night from the red alert to the orange one.

My new spigot is working out great, so last night we decided to break the outdoor electrical outlet for the heated waterers.

The look of disappointment on the ducks faces was amazing this morning when they discovered their water had frozen solid.

Morning everyone

The other day, I bought storage bins with locking tops, for my mealworm project. I've been drilling small air holes in the tops, for air. Got them done, and washed up last night. Put wheat bran in one, and it's all ready to go. I can see a lot of the mealworms have started into the pupa stage, meaning I'll have more beetles soon, which make more eggs for mealworms to hatch.

Morning everyone. Still cold here. But no snow. At least not yet.

No plans for the weekend. Too cold to do anything outside other than take care of the chickens and hurry back into the house and stand by the fireplace to thaw. I keep telling myself that winter hasn't even really hit yet so I may as well get used to it. But already I 'm tired of the unrelenting grays and browns of the timber. I'll probably spend some time working on my sofa protector/quilting project, my sweatshirt block quilt which I'm just going to tie due to the stretchiness of the material and look at some more Amish quilt patterns for a third quilt that I want to make. Thinking of maybe doing a Jelly Roll quilt. Most of the ones I've seen are bright colors with white. I'm thinking of going with bright colors with a background color other than white. White is just not a good ideal for things around our house not with dogs and cats thinking they own the bed.

That's it for me. Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Anyone have fun weekend plans?
Last night the DH and I attended one of our local fire protection district's Christmas dinner and awards night. We live between two small rural communities and each has a volunteer fire department. It was great to recognize all the volunteer firemen and women and emergency medical services members for their years of dedicated service to our community. We truly appreciate the amazing job they do.
Today is finalizing the shopping for a few things for our family Christmas get-together next week, getting things wrapped that have been left until now, housework to be ready for next week and this evening is the Christmas party for my DH's workplace.
Sunday is the usual church and lunch with DS and then getting any outside things done (since the weather is suppose to be decent). The evening will be spent bemoaning the fact that we are worn out :old and an early bedtime so we will be able to get up and go work on Monday!

Stay safe OFs!

Nature is conspiring against you! :lau
Nature is trying to get her to take a break, if only a small one!

Geez SCG, is there a dark cloud over your head that follows you everywhere??
