We started the winter with 9 cords of wood and I think we have used about half right now. The only thing we are running short of is keeper rounds. The overnights have been so cold that we have had to put 2rounds in the wood stove instead of the usual one. Plenty of dead fall that we can harvest if we have to and then there is a dead tree on the east timber line so we will have enough.

Such good news about your puppy. It is tough housebreaking. Especially when you work. My SOP for housebreaking is to take them outside every 30 minutes and keep them out long enough to see if they need to do their business. If they don't and they start playing, inside they go until the next 30 minute trek outside. The trick is to get it across that they are out there to peepee and not play. Once they do their business, then praise praise praise and a short play session then back inside again.

I think I lost weight when I housebroke a new pup.

Temp here was 44 today. Calling for flurries, light snow, snow showers blah blah blah till Tuesday then 2-4 inches of snow. I caved today and let the inner kid come out. Bought two plastic sleds at DG. Figured when we got tired of playing with them I could use one to haul feed up to the coop.

Or in my case down ;) One of the items that was left in the barn by the prior owner.

wish they would do better job of cleaning the major streets - last snow fall they didn't
Excellent excuse to not go anywhere :D
