The Old Folks Home

DH was gone yesterday afternoon to a friend's house so I did power cleaning. Pretty much caught up on laundry. But abolish housework! In a New York minute I would!

Got the divider done for the grow out pen and got the younger chicks moved in. The 7+ weeks old are so funny. I was hammering away on the frame and they have never heard 'hammering' before. One of the little cockerels from Orschelns was standing on tip toes and doing a squeaky alarm cry. Full blown, didn't miss a note. Only instead of Bawk Bawk Bawk-BAWK! BAWK! it was squeak squeak squeak-SQUEAL! SQUEAL! I've never had a bird that young do that call. It was hilarious to hear it done in Alto instead of Bass.

About sprayers. We bought a 4 gallon back pack type sprayer at Harbor Freight for 20$ and held our breath. So far it's outlived the Ace Hardware sprayers we have been using.

We have a shower here but I would really love to have a tub, not for bathing but for soaking. When my joints are giving me the devil I've been know to dump two cups of Epsom salts into hot as I can stand it water and soak until the water cools. I was amazed how much it helped.

@CapricornFarm. How is that new incubator performing?
It was doing well until i added that 40watt bulb for insurance. Then it started getting too hot. Of course i can't find the paper on how to adjust the setting....ugh! So i turned off the bulb.

Amazing craftsmanship, SGC. I would wind up with puckers.

The Cala lilies are gorgeous! I love those kind of plants. I used to go into Kmart when they were the BMOC so to speak and find plants that were on their last legs in their garden dept a nd get them to sell them to me on a discount. Once I got them home, I'd transplant them, give them a good dose of composted horse manure, lots of sunshine and TLC. A year later I would have flourishing healthy plants that I would have to rehome because they had outgrown the house.

Thanks. I do two. I have bought some plants off the mark down table.
But I only have 3 flower beds and they are full! lol
But I do have some 20 gallon grow bags that I can plant them in! And I will.

Anyone else have fun weekend plans?
Very exciting! Today:
  • Open the barn, give the chickens and alpacas their treats.
  • Clean the aquarium (which I should have done 2 weeks ago)
  • Sweep the first floor (gets most of the cat hair) then vacuum
  • Go to the grocery store
  • Give the chickens and alpacas their treats and close the barn.
  • Make dinner
  • Catch up on forums
Tomorrow:
  • Make Sunday breakfast
  • Go through the taxes with DW and send them in. Fed refund will about match the state payment.
  • Catch up on forums
Yep, I live an EXCITING life!!

They were going to through these in the trash at the greenhouse so he brought them to me. They are so pretty!
Those calla lilies were in the trash?? Look perfectly good!!

My day is similar

Trim bushes
Weed side yard
Sweep up tree blossoms and leaves
Make dinner

Love weekends!

:barnieno tree blossoms of any kind here just loads of branches from various trees that keep dropping them. My daffodils are halfway up and seem stuck there.
Daffodils have already gone brown here sadly

Daffodils are still frozen in the tundra under snow here.
Spring has been coming earlier each year here. It messes stuff up.

Napa will not be able to grow grapes in the near future too
