The Old Folks Home

Everyone gains weight over the winter. I didn't do too badly this winter as I purposefully watched what I ate, cut back servings, ate more veggies, etc.

It's gotten hard these last two months though. Weather has been crappy, spring won't come. So much to do outside and can't do it so I've been munching more.

Try to keep cereal on hand to munch on along with Wheat thins (my big weakness) but still that munching doesn't do anyone any good.

Now I have extra pounds to work off this summer.:hitDoctor said I could start jogging. Guess I'll just have to cowboy up, put on the jogging shoes and hit the trails in the woods.

For a little while, Dh has been complaining about the kids getting too much water outside the tub when they play in the bath. Then he complained they were getting too much water on the backside of the tub, and he was afraid it was leaking under the tub. I told him to clean off the old caulking, and recaulk it, so it was water tight. The kids have not taken a bath here in a couple weeks now. Any water they splashed from the last time they took a bath in there, has to be dry.

Last night he mentioned the water leaking onto the floor after he took his bath. I went in to look. Um, Houston we have a problem. I told him it could be leaking around the drain area, OR it could be one of the pipes going to the faucets that was leaking. I told him I'd know by morning which one it was.

After he went to work, I took a little food coloring and put it in the bathtub, then ran both faucets wide open, and filled the tub. I waited about 30 minutes, then drained the tub. I grabbed a couple paper towels, and went to blot the water on the floor. The results: the leak is around the drain area, because there was coloring on the paper towel when I blotted the water.

Good detective work!

Well, our garden is taking shape. One neighbor brought his tractor, and rolled back the grass. Another neighbor gave us a non-working tiller. He bought it new 14 years ago, used it twice, and let it sit in a shed every since then.

It cost us just under $200.00 to fix the tiller, but it's good as new. Our garden has been tilled several times now. Tomorrow, Dh will be raking out all the hay from the chicken coops, and tilling it into the soil. We will be planting a few things in it now, but we're mostly aiming for a fall garden.
