The Old Folks Home

^^^^That is what I was thinking to! We have had a horrible case of stinkbugs this year and with her story the smell instantly came back.
This reminds me . . . where is the fall migration of the pumpkin bugs??? That is our term for a flying orange colored lady bug-type that lands on our west face of our house and crawls in any open window and congregates into the ceiling corner leaving their stain until repainted. Hate THOSE things!!

Oh they are here!!! They climb in any little hole in the screen. I swear we have about a thousand in the house! UGH! They are frustrating to. Land on your face in the middle of the night. They should be heading your way soon. Atleast I hope so!

LOL thanks for the heads up-- I'll be sure to close the window on the west side!!! I hate them-- tehy stink and make a mess!!

What are they??? They started arrving here just a few years ago-- nothing before that.

SCG are you and your sister still on speaking terms?? My sister is older and taller and never did that to me (that I recall). But, then we didn't have any animals around the place-thank goodness.

Yes, although we really didn't become friends until our late 20s. We're still very different, but can tolerate each other.

She was a bully, though. She used to taunt the goose we had with a broom. One day she was out in the back yard and didn't have her broom. The goose realized it and went after her. She made it halfway up the horse fence before the goose "goosed" her (and didn't let go). This is one of my favorite childhood memories.

SCG  I can just picture that -' goose vs your sister'  - I have "adopted" it as one of MY favorite memories - hope you don't mind.
Whoa...... "Adopting favorite memories...." Whoa. I am blown away. To think I could have been doing that, myself, had I thought of it. Diva, you are magnificent! I bet I can replace MOsT of my actual memories with some "favorites" I can find hereabouts!

:bow

Wow - I am sooooooooo behind on this thread? I was talking flu jabs - and suddenly you all went mad with slugs and stink bugs? ( What is a stink bug by the way?) Whatever it is I really think I wouldn't like eating one Yuck. We get loads of earwigs and they are everywhere it is really freaky. I opened up the shed door and hundreds of them fell off the inside! Once I pulled up the cover on the garden seat and the wood under it was covered in them. I just pour boiling water over them! As for slugs we had a bumper year and they devastated a lot of the crops. I was really mad at the state of the cabbages! It is not nice picking them off and trying not to miss any incase they end up in the dinner! Our Dog has taken to eating them but they are not good for dogs and upsets his tummy then we have to wash the yard down lots - Anyhow what is a darn stink bug ????? Anyone have a picture? We don’t have them here or maybe we do and just call them something else?

Oes - totally behind and having a senior moment - I just need a sit down and a glass of wine.

I just always thought they were a form of lady bug. They were scarce here until the past 3 years. Now they are a horrible nuisance! I dont see them eating any plants but the stains alone are enough to drive you nuts!!

me and my sisters also do not get along. Some of my favorite memories involve the downfall of my sister! This one is especially good!

A stink bug is also known as a squash bug. maybe that is what ya'll call them too. they are ugly and when squashed they smell horribly.
