The Old Folks Home

As a beginer definitly go with a simple plain matterial. When using patterns, the lining up of the design and stripes becomes a logistial nightmare. Save that for later, just work on your sewing skill for now.

Oh your little princess waits for you. . . . lol

Oooo!!!..for those of you that sew...get out your old flat sheets....or go to the thrift store and find some. I use them to make extra pillow cases, or aprons, or any projects requiring lots of cheap usable and sometimes pretty material. Thrift stores are also great for finding yard goods. When older ladies move on to nursing homes etc...their relatives usually donate their sewing supplies. I have found many yards of never used yard goods.

I love the thrift store! I bought two pair of Levi's in a hard to find size for DS#2 this past week, cost me less than $8 for the pair!! THAT'S what I'm talking about! Score!!

Wisher - where did you find the sheep fabric?

I think it was Etsy, but I would have to search again to be certain......

The coop at my new property is nearly done; just need the auto door installed. It arrived Saturday. I've scheduled John the Contractor to do that on Tuesday morning. (I have to go buy a 6v lantern battery for it tomorrow - I opted for the Ador auto door this time.)

I also need to have the anti-bird netting put over and the hardware cloth "apron" around the bottom of the run. Must buy another 100 foot roll of the latter as there is 200 feet of 6' no-climb run fence.

Money got tight earlier than expected because my 2001 Toyota RAV4 crapped out last Wednesday and I bought a 1999 Nissan Quest on Friday out of the "new property coop build" money.

6 Roosters housed at HHandbasket's place and at least that many more which have grown up, since, at MY house will go first.

Eventually, only the most senior hens, my dominant rooster Carl, and Sparkle the House Silkie will reside at my residential property. And maybe all the Orpington girls of any age, plus silkie cross pullets with silkie feathers... The latter because they can't fly and the former because I just love watching big fat fluffy hens in my yard.

Congrats on getting a new car Linda! And it sounds like you have everything coming along nicely with your coop and chickens. How exciting
