The Old Folks Home

A BIG congratulations, @perchie.girl. I am so glad that ordeal is behind you.

Ah! Japanese beetle....no wonder I'm more confused than usual. 'Round here those are called June bugs and they have been pretty bad here this spring. Good thing is the chickens love them.

My chickens are on a rip. My newly weened from her chicks pullet just pulled out my earring and ate it:rant Thank God it was only sterling silver. I fed her a slice of bread not going to sift poop. She can keep the earring, LOL Although I may get the metal detector out in the coop in a week or two....maybe I should take it out and wave it over the hen:lau

No sifting, but I did run the metal detector over the area. Found two pieces of wire and a rusty nail but no earring. Asked the hen if she knew she was a jewel thief. She just cocked her head and gave me that look that says 'Bread? Got bread?"

Did I tell you about the thread where the duck was acting wonky and all guesses were niacin deficiency, brain injury and etc. She took a blood sample in to the vet and found lead poisoning!
