I have the main water dispenser sitting up on a pyramid of 2x6 boards so the chicks can get to the water and the silly hens are still kicking bedding into them three times a day.

Since your birds are too stupid to use nipples (much more work for you, much less clean water for them) have you considered Placing a circle of HW cloth as a "fence" around it with offset entrances? The bids can scratch all they want and most of it should hit the HW cloth before it gets to the waterer. They'll be able to enter and drink and get back out but not enough room inside to make as much of a mess. Just a thought
