THis is the real benefit ofcross breeding!!

THe two breed roations is simple. The f1 offspring are bred back to one of the parent breeds, then the f2 to the other parent stock.. Keeping all the breeding stock can become a logistical nightmare.Maybe that is the benefit of the annual hatchathon-- new breedingstock for the following year.

Mr Reese has good NH available , too. In addition to Kathy's and Joseph's stock.

Ron, you are getting me into trouble-- more chickens!!

I am a big enalber!

You do need an new project right?

This talk on when to butcher a chicken is interesting. Makes sense to me, the younger the tastier. Just like when I used to go hunting deer..I wasn't out for the big buck, could have had a couple of nice ones though..anyway, left that to my DH, and I would go for the young ones.

I think it's personal preference and what one gets used to.

More accurately, the younger, the more tender. The older, the more flavor.

A young Cornish X hasn't developed flavor yet. It is a meaty, tender, clean slate. Season as you wish to make it as tasty as you want.

A foraged heritage bird has a flavor all its own and tastes just like chicken. Salt and pepper are usually sufficient. Actually, it tastes like real chicken. A flavor most Americans are quite unfamiliar with and may not like.

I have Croc Sandals now and I love them!

I have learned however to not use my right shoe tip to release the strap on my left sandal. Something wet and sticky was transferred to my ankle....
