Happy belated birthday, Diva!:hugs

And happy birthday @sourland!

My 65th birthday is on the 18th.

Test day for me today. My brains hurt.:he:barnie.
I hope the test goes well!

I replied to a thread yesterday about bringing home three special needs hens and getting fertile hatching eggs. One hen was under weight, had an eye problem and was walking funny. The OP got snippy at me when I suggested that the hens should be quarantined to determine what was wrong and I suggested to check for mareks.

The OP asserted that the place that the hens came from was clean and healthy! and was tired of everyone thinking chickens could have mareks with no proof

Sometimes I wonder about people...

I'm about to cry. NONE of the eggs hatched. I just opened them. NONE of them even finished developing out. It looks like they all stopped developing at different stages, between days 7 - 10 days, if that much. I guess they were simply too scrambled, and the air sac too damaged on them to allow full development. Like I said, I never saw proper veining when I candled them. Even the one that was cracked and had quit, that I did the eggtopsy on, had veining very close to what was trying to develop, but no veining in the membrane, like it should have. I gambled, and totally lost.

I am so sorry!

Shipped eggs are a gamble

I've even double checked to make sure my R-com is calibrated correctly. It's spot on. I've gone over everything I did to make sure I didn't screw things up. Nope, I did right. It was totally the USPS handling of them. Doesn't make it any easier to accept though.
It is time for a road trip!

How far will a breeder go to get a special bird?
