The Old Folks Home

Living in Florida, I deal with heat most of the year. We have A/C in our homes, and vehicles. It's a must. Iced tea, lemonade, gatorade, and/or cold water are a must haves too. Get up early to do outside things, rest during the hottest couple hours of the day, and resume working in the evening. Fans, wet cloths, straw hats, and a pool, if you can, all help with the summer heat.

For the chickens, my coop has plenty of fan power, and if it gets too hot, I cool the roof on the coop with a hose, or sprinkler. Putting feeders, and water buckets in the shade is a must. Floating frozen water bottles in their water buckets is good. Cool wet spots for the chickens, a cool treat if it's really hot, and adding some gatorade to their water does wonders. If it's extremely hot, I mist the chickens with the hose, when I make a cool wet spot for them.
AC is a must here too!

If I go 100 miles towards the ocean, they do not put AC in houses. Climate changes fast here

Take care everyone:frow

Living next to a MASSIVE heat sink that rarely gets to 70°F will do that.
We are somewhat moderated by the Pacific Ocean. I love it when the Delta Breeze comes in. We will not be seeing that for a while though
