The Old Folks Home

why in heavens would they do that :rant

It's actually my dh's fault. He would never tell the dogs NO or teach them any commands.
And when the mail lady would come biscuit would take off after her barking like he was going to eat her alive! Dh and I were out building the coop and I tried to tell him to make biscuit stop and he did not think it was a big deal. So the mail lady was defending herself.
It's so sad. But I tried to get biscuit to stop but he won't listen to me when his daddy is home.

That is so sad, Chicka, no matter what the cause.

Our ACD continues to decline and our Border Collie is 14 now, deaf and arthritic but still shuffles along and likes to go for slow walks with us. The youngest are 5 and a half now so will be with us for awhile hopefully. Still I'm not anxious for any more animals to house break at this point in time but we definitely do need a dog around the farm to keep the varmints at bay.

Yeah, sad about Burd but I was expecting it. I have a bantam rooster who suffered the same exact injury this spring due to fighting with another rooster. He's blind in that eye but Popeye is going strong with minimal intervention other than antibiotic salve in his eye and careful cleaning. I ran three different antibiotics through Burd, increasing the dosage of the last with two days on and a day off for 5 or 6 days and his eye only worsened. The only thing I can attribute it to is a suppressed immune system from Marek's. I just couldn't watch him slowly suffer and die any alonger.

Penny, sounds like you are going to live the great adventure. Good for you! You are going to keep us informed of your travels, aren't you? BYC wouldn't be the same without you!

Our dogs have always been outside dogs. And BB has cancer and struggles just to walk.
Biscuit is younger but he's blind and having trouble also.
We found out why he is blind. I caught the mail lady spraying mace in his eyes.
Omg, i would sue her!

So sorry for your loss! Hugs.

We love you too, Penny!:hugs

Thanks, Cap. :hugsDown to three standard roosters now. Two are loosing weight, the other is doing well. He's so laid back nothing riles him. Doc had an eye injury last year early on also and spent a month on the back deck in a cage being pampered, spoiled and handled a lot. Now he's a big pet bird.

Hopefully when all is said and done I'll be left with one large rooster to stay with my surviving hens.

There is a law that allows them to spray aggressive animals. That is why I tried to get dh to stop our dog from acting like he was going to eat her when she brought the mail.
Biscuit only acted like that when dh was home. I did not let him. But the dog would not listen to me when dh was home and dh would not help me stop him.
