The Old Folks Home

Impressive indeed!

morning all I know our first year here neighbor used roundup on their drive
killed my garden right off everything died within a day told his wife we are good no more roundup, they are good folks

Unless you have extremely porous, sandy soil, Roundup doesn't travel through soil. Roundup works by being absorbed through the leaves of the plant, so there is no point in applying it anywhere except directly on a plant. It can move in air, either because someone is spraying in windy conditions (seriously dumb move), or because it volatilizes (evaporates) in very warm conditions. As every professional knows (or learns the hard way!), if used correctly, Roundup stays where you put it, but crops have been lost and many fines levied when safe use procedures haven't been followed.

I know it sounds like a crazy question but I killed 3 grape vines last year when I sprayed some raid to kill some mosquito's on my screened porch.
That's why I asked. Thank you.

That was probably caused by the propellant, rather than the active ingredient. Some plants are very sensitive to "environmental pollutants." On something the size of a banana, it might cause localized tissue death, but it shouldn't cause the whole plant to die (good idea to wash it off; dead spots are never nice to look at, no matter how small they are).

Thanks folks, I was hoping to sneak by. All the attention is embarassing for a person that doesn't "blush."

C'mon deedee, 'sneak by'. Didn't think that was happening did you ? Greatness must be recognized.

35 to go. I guess you can stop posting and wait for Granny to catch up and cross the line first, she only needs 5,259 to catch you. :gig

It's not paint they use, but thermoplastic. They melt big blocks of plastic to an extremely high temperature, and that's what they paint the roads with. Like a glue gun on major steroids.
That is quite interesting, I had no idea. Really sorry those 3 had to suffer so!!

Ok... and now for something totally different!
What is that green stuff your ducks are in? Totally different from what I have outside my house!

Wow Alaskan has green grass and some white birds on it. I actually see grass. My lawn is like 90% new & unusual weeds. Guy next door insists I do have some grass in there.
Yeah... I don't mow much do I? :D

Just got back home from the rheumatologist's office. I have osteoarthritis and borderline RA. He said that the gauge for RA was a point score of symptoms that add up to more than six and my score is at 5-6. Real close in spite of what my tests say.

So lucky me gets to give herself shots every week of methotrexate. Oh.....joy. He seems to think he can get the damage to my hands under control and maybe reverse it with get this ...egg shell membrane tablets. I ashed him if I could just strip them out of my eggs and chew on them. He said the capsules would be easier.

Oh well, nobody said getting old was for wimps.

Going to try to catch up and grab some lunch.
