The Old Folks Home

We've been getting spotty tv for several days. Dh called, and they came out today. They had to put in a new junction box out at the road, then run new line to our house. For whatever reason, the cable which is suppose to last forever, had decomposed. The decomposition of the cables cased the junction box to deteriorate too. While checking it out, it knocked out our internet too. At first we were told it would take a week, because a crew had to come out to fix everything, since multiple lines had to be run. There are at least 12 other homes affected. Instead, the guy put in the new junction box, and ran a new line for us, then hooked everyone else back in. We know it knocked out at least one neighbor. The line won't get buried until next week when the crew comes out, but it's out of the way of everything, and at least we're up, and running.

We had a very similar situation here. The difference is that there is conduit under the road to our hours so it is easier to replace the bad cable.

It is working much better now

Nope! But only because I like and respect you. Otherwise I wouldn't waste the pixels.

:yuckyuck:lau
Always good to hear you're worth the pixels!

Spent most of the day getting my computer updated so that meant I got some housework done. Then DH, aka Doctor Honey came at me with dilating drops for my eyes and that was the end of seeing for awhile. Good news is my eyes checked out okay, bad news. I'm still seeing double.

Good thing, we would miss you if you were gone for a week!

Go get some dessert. You'll think you get a double helping but it will have half the calories ;)

I changed eye Dr. one of the hardest things with my vision is light so this one I was going to good DR. but wanted to desperately find why I lost vision ie.... heredity or graves
only like 25% of graves go ophthalmic kept doing light field tests .. sent me finally to u dub in Seattle eye institute they said it was easy right pupil does not respond anymore but for bright light they said they would allow me to put them as my eye Dr's now

Penny I think my husband would LOVE to examine your eyes. He says he has only one patient now, me, but hearing about your vision problems fascinates him.

Bruce, I did have desert tonight! A big bowl of fudge ripple ice cream. Figured I'd earned it what with loosing a pound last week.
Didn't see double except for the spoon but at least I hit my mouth every time! Waited till after dark to go close up the birds.

I hate having my eyes dilated. DH usually has to use the tough love system of getting me to do the drops. But I have some abnormalities in my eyes from running extended fevers when I was a kid and later was sick with my RF and have to have an internal eye examination regularly......when he can catch me......did I say I really hate those dilating drops? LOL!

We went to the local Verizon retail store yesterday to get a new phone that would work off our wi-fi and wound up walking out on them. Have to say we have never been treated so shabbily by anyone as we were by these jokers who tried to convince us that it was going to cost us 250 dollars to get a new phone out the door.

I had talked to a Customer Service rep a week earlier and had the numbers on what a new phone would cost us out the door. It was supposed to be 29 dollars. We went over to Walmart and got the same phone. Out the door for 21 dollars a month. Today I called Verizon back and told them what had happened. They were going to turn it over to the supervisors that it sounded like they needed a refresher course in customer relations. I told the nice lady I talked to that they needed their butts kicked.

Don't screw around with old folks. We bite back.

Love it, We do have good service here with out phones most often I have mine set to use our wifi here I have a very old plan with boost it is truly unlimited then about two years ago they offered what they called shrinkage so they would not 5 bucks every three months if you paid on time take you from 50 a month to 40 so went to 40 with my plan been with them 9 years

Unfortunately we have to stick with Verizon. We live in what we were told is a 'big dead zone' and Verizon gives us the best signal strengths. We used to have US Cellular but the signal strength wasn't strong enough to even hold a call. A regular Verizon phone barely works but one of the new ones that work through our WI Fi is supposed to give us a better signal.

The lady we talked to at Walmart said that some of the pay as you go plans, when they ask what city they live in or near and they say the nearest town to us they don't even look because they know there is a dead zone here.

That is one of the reasons we got our HAM licenses. We can always get out with our radios if we have an emergency and the phone is dead.
