The Old Folks Home

And i have had all of them out, so not losing any more that way.
Wisdom teeth are out but you still have other teeth?

I was missing two wisdom teeth, only had the two on top. I must have only half of the wisdom I should have....

Been there done that got the t-shirt.

Discovered about 15 years ago I have rare genetic defect in my teeth/immune system where my body turns on my teeth like they are a foreign object in my body and destroys them from the inside out. It's called genetic internal absorption. When they discovered it I had 4 teeth that were well on the road to destruction. They were able to save one but had to cut out all the bone on the outside of my jaw to get the teeth out as they had fused to the bone. No symptoms until the tooth abscesses due to the nerve being destroyed.

Had stitches everywhere, lots of swelling all the fun stuff. At the time I was only the second person in IL to be diagnosed with the condition. When I asked the doctor what happened to the first person he told me he eventually lost all his teeth due to the expense of dealing with the disease. I still gots half of mine along with a removable and permanent bridge. Guess I'm a step ahead of the first guy. LOL

@superchemicalgirl at first when I read about the ongoing saga of your less than sane turkey I was going to say "it's a turkey thing!" then I realized...Your turkey ain't normal!

But I have that little bantam hen that isn't playing with a full deck either. I wrote about her earlier. She's the little gal who hasn't laid an egg in over a year (she's two years old) since she went broody last year, lost most of her feathers along with a lot of weight. I was ready to pull the plug on her when @ronott1 suggested separating her from the flock and applying a load of TLC along with vitamins and good food, which is exactly what I did.

Well, Sparkles has all of her feathers, she gained a ton of weight and still hasn't laid an egg. Every time I try to reintroduce her back into the flock, she sits on the roost for a few minutes then flies over to perch on my head before flying back to her pen and hiding in the corner of the nesting box. I thought she was blind but I think she sees, how well I have no idea.

I think she just doesn't like the other chickens very much. Which leaves me trying to find a compatible companion for her to roost with over the winter months.

Sometimes I think chickens and yes, turkeys too, need a shrink and some Prozac.
That is a very silly hen! I hope you do find someone for her. That might get her back out with the flock...but you never know.

Hey folks, how is it going? Things have changed in my world. My job is no longer in danger and the senior center is not only going to stay open, but services are going to be expanded. They are getting one more bus and are going to be serving dine in meals cafeteria style.
Unfortunately tragedy struck yesterday. The other meal delivery driver goes to get the meals some 40 plus miles from the center. While loading up and preparing to leave the other center he had a heart attack....and died. He was not only a co-worker but a friend. He and his wife are like family to me.

I like the dentist now take them out hand them say here

nope do not use a bread machine I do most in bowl then pour it out finish kneading let it rise in a buttered bowl 90 minutes then knead again put it in a bread pan let rise 60 minutes then bake . This is from Ron the recipe I use for bread
White Bread
7-10 cups flour 1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbs salt 2 pck. yeast

3 cup water 1/3 cup olive oil(or peanut)

Heat water to 110°, put salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and pour water over and add oil, stir with wire whip until dissolved.
First Kneed
Stir in 4 cups of flour until mixed well. Add more flour until you have a stiff dough and then kneed until dough is smooth and elastic (3-8 minutes).
Cover and let rise about one hour.

Punch down and knead until smooth. Divide dough into thirds, shape into 3 loaves and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour) and then bake at 400° for 20-30 minutes. Bread is done when the bottom sounds hollow when you tap it and internal temperature is 195 to 205 degrees.

Variations:
Replace Sugar with Molasses, Honey, Raw Sugar or etc.

Up to half of the flour can be replaced with other types of flour or nuts and etc. Whole Wheat flour will absorb more water, so let the first kneed be a bit sticky.

Each cup of water will make one loaf of bread. Adjust the ingredient amounts to match the number of loaves you want.

I'm sorry Penny. I thought it was you that said you use a bread machine for the dough then bake the bread.
Thank you for sharing Rons recipe.

The love triangle between the chick (which is a rooster) and the Nasty Turkey and the Turken continues.

NT takes the chick during the day, then at night hops on the roost, puffs up and tries to take out eyeballs of anyone who dares come near. The chick can't get up that high, and so the turken stays under the nest boxes in a cat litter pan and snuggles with the chick.

I don't understand it. At all.

That's to funny. Mom needs a babysitter cuz she needs a break. Lol
For being as ornery as she is it takes its toll on her having to be so sweet all day. :lau

Al, it's also the circumstances around his passing that makes it infuriating. I found out he was having trouble loading the food laden coolers into his van and had to hold onto the wall to just walk....and nobody offered to help. Then when he hadn't left for fifteen minutes nobody checked to see why he had not left until the interim c.e.o got there and checked on him herself. She was the one that called the E.M.T.s
