The Old Folks Home

Had my second appt with my Rheumy today. Doing well and he is pleased with my progress. Good news is he changed my diagnosis. Bad news is he changed my diagnosis. He didn't mention the RA today but told us he is pretty certain I have ankylosing spondylitis.:hitThe symptoms all fit. So I guess I'm in for the long haul either way. Have to continue the Methotrexate and they drew about a pint of blood.

I'm okay with this......well not really but what the h**l can you do but dig your heels in hope for the best?

It might be better than RA though. It should be diagnosed by the blood test. If it is AS, then you should have not Rf factor in your blood...Wiki says that though so it is a bit questionable....

Doctor told me I could have had RF going back to my childhood and it was just caught during a new infection. All strep infections will cause a positive ASA. So looks like I'm dealing with two separate conditions along with osteo, well make that three.

Gee....a trifecta.

Also just learned that a good friend fell and broke 9 ribs. Not a good day.

Oh no!

No wonder you hurt so much.

I have a suspicion that my DW is in a similar situation--Rheumatic fever, accidents, parathyroid tumors. Her Dr. told her to expect a knee replacement.

She is 56 and pretty messed up already

Urge her to ask her doctor questions, Ron. I was checked for the parathyroid tumor thing also years ago, thankfully negative but I bet this has been slowly eating away at things for over 10 years.

Yeah, Cap, answers a lot of questions about the chronic sometimes severe pain I've been having for the past 9 years.
