The Old Folks Home

Thanks @1muttsfan and @ronott1. I am really worried about putting them back out in the grow out pen at this point without moving the pen. At this point I'm just glad she survived and is on the mend.Feel so bad about the one that died. I keep reading stories about chicks and adolescent birds dropping like flies from unknown causes and then in the end it turns out to be coccidia.

Strange that this group of four is 7 weeks old and there is a group of 11 week olds ahead of it with broody mom still watching over them that are so far unscathed.

That's good to know. I was afraid Farah brought it in.

Anyway to clear the soil?
Did you buy litter life yet?

That has been shown to reduce soil pathogens

Keeping things as dry as possible and treating as soon as you see symptoms will reduce the cysts in the area.

nipple water systems help and they can start using them withing a week of age

They grow up getting resistance to it with Momma... Momma shows em what to eat and they get less of it in their system.

BF just told me about the present he just got me. We have a gimpy chick (remember the terrible hatch I had this year?) that is likely to freeze to death this winter because s/he comes out of the pop door then can't get back in anywhere.
He found plans for a prosthetic and then someone with a 3D printer and had it printed. I do hope it fits.

How wonderful

I'll post a picture when it gets here (being mailed).

Got some cemetery work done today. It is so nice to have a helper. Got an entire stone fixed today and 2 more leveled with the pry bar. Can't do pry bar work by myself and the chiseling of the broken stone would have taken me a full day and another half day based on past history.
