The Old Folks Home

Last year, since there was just 2 of us, I roasted a breast instead of a whole turkey. Spatchcocked just as above, and it was absolutely delicious, and enough for us without huge amounts of leftover, although I did miss the dark meat which is my favorite. I like turkey, but I really don't want to eat it for 4 or 5 meals.

I need to find some of those reusable TV dinner type trays where you put the whole meal together then freeze it. Microwave here it comes sort of deal. I've looked for them a couple of times at wally world when I remembered them, but never did find them. If I had one of those food savers, I could just put it all in a bag, suck it down and freeze it, then heat it back up in a pot of boiling water, open it, and pour it out on a plate. The turkey, mashed spuds and gravy get all mixed together anyway.

Turkey is in the sink thawing overnight. Gonna cook it tomorrow. With the really good football match ups tomorrow, it will be like Thanksgivings of old; sit in the recliner with a plateful, watching the game while eating, then when done, sleep through most of the game... :plbb Debating on making green bean casserole... will make the mashed taters, gravy and have rolls & cranberry sauce. Looking forward! :drool

Sometimes a Dr. has to step in on driving
Not sure but I think a Dr can only tell tell them they have a driving restriction. Not sure if it goes on their licence. My FIL (80, 81 in April) is supposed to not be driving according to his Dr ( after complications from getting his heart valve repaired, not because of physically unable but the anaesthesia made him kinda 'nutty' for awhile, maybe still a little...) he didn't wait till Dr gave him the OK, HE 'feels' fine and able...

Took me a long time to get my Aunt to stop driving. I even called the police. I took her keys. She called a locksmith. Finally she got really lost and had to call to get someone to get her. We took the car and gave it to my son.
My grandfather and family got a phone call yrs ago, 80s that they, troopers had pulled my great grandfather (87) over a few times for driving too slow and he'd been drinking coming from a over the hills backwoods bar (he liked to go there and play his fiddle) He told the troopers he only needed to use the road for a few minutes. . So they just followed him home. Boy things have changed.
Everybody convinced him to give up his car, didn't loose his licence they just got rid of his car. I rode my bike to his house and bring him books to read, cross country ski in the winter. He gave up, went pretty fast when he couldn't drive lost his independence. Broke his toe, didn't tell anyone and died of gangrene/blood poisoning .

The nearby church had a huge event today. We all got up early, and watched the parade, then went to do the activities. It was a LOT of fun. The activities were free. Face painting, pony and horse rides, train & covered wagon rides, fishing, panning for goodies, weaving little baskets, candle making, bb guns, and targets, and a lot more. We're all wore out tonight.

@ronott1
Could you walk me through?

I want to switch back to my old avatar... and don't see it on byc.

It is gone?
I don't think I'll ever change mine again unless I never want to use it again. Had a heck of a time getting it to work after the change, don't think it will be usable again if I change it lol, IDK?
