The Old Folks Home

I tend to notice things no one else does and it drives me nuts. I always think Lands End or LL Bean should hire me as an inspector. I know they would fire me for finding too many "oh oohs."

My brother has gotten pants with the pockets sewn shut. But,I told him it was just basting stitches and I could take them out. Nope he returned it.

Got a flannel sheet set where the fitted sheet only was highly pilled. Obviously someone slept on it. But I wasn't in the mood for complaining, so I just washed it again. Some days I run out of "fight."

Took the dog for a walk a little bit ago. My driveway should be declared a national disaster area. I have to drive to work with BF tomorrow, I'm guessing I'll be able to get him to drive. I'll have to take an Imodium before we go.

Need a laugh? I'm a moron. When I loaded the quilt onto the frame on Friday after work I guess I wasn't paying attention. To be honest, the backing has been put together for a couple months, but I was not excited about stitching this quilt because it was a lot of straight lines, which is really difficult to do well on my regular sit down machine. Well, I was super excited to do it now that I have the longarm, so that's the first quilt I wanted to do. Also, I always piece the backing so that the seam goes vertical, but apparently months ago when I pieced this one I decided to do the seam horizontal for some reason.

Cue today... I've stitched through 2/3 of the quilt and I think I'm doing great and I go to advance it to work the next row and... I see this

That pink busy upside down fabric is the backing. Notice it ends and the quilt top continues.

Crap!

I take it off the frame and

Yup, I'm a moron.

So I carefully measure and cut the sides off and then realize the backing fabric is directional, so I have to do even more piecing and math.

But I get it done, not awful (considering the disaster it was) and get it back on the frame and finish stitching.

If you look closely and/or take a photograph of the entire backing, you can tell it's fubar. But if you don't look too closely at it, it passes muster.

Hey Micro...how ya' doing?
Not bad shape for the shape I'm in! Currently providing job security to the lab techs at the local hospital as they try to track down the exact type of arthritis I have besides Osteo and Ankylosing Spondylitis. Plus I'm still coasting on the latest steroid injection I got so I'm feeling pretty darned good at the moment.

How about you JD?

DH and I just went out in the blizzard for our traditional walk in the dark and hope you don't fall in a ravine hike. Looks like we have about 6 inches of snow so far with some foot plus drifts and it's still blowing and snowing. We walked north of the house to the pasture edge where we could still see the house lights clearly. Our snow dog Buck came along with us having the time of his life.

Came in and ordered more fabric! This is addicting!

I will have to remember to do the night time blizzard walk if there is ever a blizzard in Woodland!

Yeah, but remember that episode of Seinfeld where he bought Elaine the sweater that was marked down because it had a tiny red dot on one of the pockets. Everyone swore nobody would notice it and the first thing Elaine did once she tried it on was look at it and immediately find the tiny dot of red on the pocket.....that is probably closer to reality than I'd care to admit and probably what would happen to me.

JD, so glad for you! Was it what you expected?
Remember that episode, it was a cashmere sweater. Loved Seinfeld, dw never did, thought it was stupid. I loved it cause it truly was like they said a show about nothing, just every day what everyone has to deal with and made it funny.
